Best Trans Fluid

im doing the 4x4 pan and shift mod today, and i was wondering what ATF is the best to fill her up with?

i chose AMSOIL synthetic, $8 a qt

what do you think?

Mobil 1 is best according to Factory Tech Greg Evans.

however he also says he mainly only uses it because it's free to him.

he also recommends the factory specified Ford Motorcraft Mercon fluid.

HI!... I've been running REDLINE D4 in my truck now for 4 years. No problems here. Also running REDLINE D4 in my power steering and REDLINE in my rearend.

All I run now with my monster box is plain ol mercon.

I think I might swtich to mobil 1 though, got to see when that time comes.

I heard the red colored fluid works best. Strictly rumor though. I run regular mercon 3 in mine. No problems yet. When she goes it is gonna be one mean shifter when I am done. -Mat-
