i agree that way too many kids go out and think they can win shows and have a custom ride by just bolting on big rims and laying frame. however i don't think his mods were exactly "subtle and unique." I believe he did extensive bodywork and some nicer rims and a more slammed look would only compliment his custom work.

well, as someone who has worked on hot rods (1932-1934 Fords mostly) all his life, and has recently started doing bolt-on mods to a Lightning, I would have to say that the two are entirely separate entities. some things you just dont do to a new vehicle, especially one as beautifully executed and proportioned from the factory as a Lightning. it's like ricing out a lightning, YOU JUST DONT DO IT. period. the old hot rods and customs were done to make cheaper cars look like more expensive models. IMO there's no need to do this to a truck thats already the cream of the crop

For all we know the owner posts here regularly but has never revealed the fact he owns such a fine example of an American "hot rod". The modifications to that "L" are very consistent and true to the original heritage of the American "hot rod". Perhaps some of you are just not old enough to appreciate the art form, but I know I am and I find the creative craftmanship very appealing. Beats the hell out of bolting a 6 foot tall wing on the trunk of a Geo and calling it a "hot rod".................
What mswaim said. I grew up in the 70's when muscle cars were muscle cars and hot rods had a chopped roof, suicide doors and a 671 blower. Just my opinion.

My being a high end body and paint man I appreciate the work that went into it and the apparent results. (Can't tell much from a picture regarding quality of work.) Although I probably wouldn't have cut up a brand new L' unless it was a customers vehicle and they had an unlimited bankroll.

It's very well done, but totally not my cup of tea at all. I am very much a performance over looks person. My L is maybe getting different rims, that's it on the outside... no paint, decals, hood scoops, etc. But to each their own I guess. That's why this is such a great country.

Can someone enlighten me on why you would weld the tailgate shut on a truck. The doors look sick, but i think i would have wanted a functional tailgate.

LoL! That is funny no matter what it involves. Like said before the whole welding a tailgate closed on a truck.....no no. I also agree with the Lightning being the cream of the crop. I don't think there is a nicer vehicle produced today. But that is just opinion. -Mat-

I designed the audio/video system for a new casino in Reno and ive been up there a lot working on it and installing everything. When i do come back into town, i have lot of paperwork to do. when i do have some free time, id rather drive my truck then talk about it. i havent even got a chance to go snowboarding yet this year. however, i got a condo in tahoe for a week in feb to go riding.

its nice to hear from you...chris
