I'd say go with a 2# pulley. I did (and many others) w/o a chip and it's fine as a daily driver. It'll give a decent SOTP torque improvement without going overboard. Shoot my salesman said (w/o me asking) "you know you can put a pulley on these right?"

Chrome the wheels.

And do the 1-2 drop.

It'll look nicer and you can never get enough torque!

Ditto what wydopnthrtl said...2-3lb pulley can be removed easily when you need to visit the dealer, and there's no need to chip it. You won't gain that much peak hp, but the power under the curve is noticiable. A fresh air kit will add a little hp, but some dealers will void the warranty...keep the stock stuff so you can swap back.

The 99-02 L is rated for 5000 lb with the stock hitch. Swap the hitch, and it's safe to pull more. Even lowered, it'll tow well, but I'm not too sure about using shackels and towing. Someone else with experience might can advise please?

BTW, most people consider the TB and cat-back vanity items, since they don't really add measurable performance. They will however look good. The exhaust system is like audio speakers...get the one that sounds good to you, 'cause there ain't much difference in performance.

I could be wrong though. I don't know many people in person that own a Lightning, and the ones that I do know, don't do diddly squat with it for daily use.

huh?

If you did lower it, I would make sure you got the right kit. I'm sure there is a limit on what you can pull with a L. LOL.. Mine is a 12.28 daily driver with 50,000 + miles on it ...

Runs great - Only issue is the ****ty head design keeps losing head gaskets

well I think I will take the plunge on the TB.. I know that its been controversial, but our engines are nothing but air pumps, so anything that will increase airflow cant hurt.. I will also do the air filter upgrade.. not really sure about the exhaust.. I do like the stock unit and it the sound level is decent.. I know that some like the other aftermarket units but I still have speed and stealth..
I really like the chrome wheels, but dont want to have to try to sell my current wheels or store them.. would rather have them chromed but thats another whole issue..
will go with the lowering kit as it really makes the truck look nice..
any other suggestions?

just cant do the chip and pulley.. dont want to risk the warranty.. the only thing I have thought of is doing the new thing out by Performance Products where you download your current program and upload a new one but there isnt chip change.. anyone care to weigh in on that one?

Thanks
Dana

don’t worry about the lowering kit and boat, I have a belltech 3/4, and the boats dry weight is 3500, but just the belltech rear hangers with stock shackles, and also air bags for towing, it tows fine, and seems to ride better with the boat on the back..

think about an ele fan conversion, when I did mine, never been on a dino to compare, but seemed more responsive and if nothing else got rid to the horrible noise when cold and that thing is spinning..

IF you decide to get a catback, then I would highly recommend the JDM, single Magnaflow(internal x-pipe), and 4.5" tips system. It's slightly louder than the OEM at idle and at cruise. It's just slightly louder at WOT with a nice 'tone'--no drone--none. You'll still have a "stealth" l .

L in D,
thanks for that post.. now I feel a lot better about the drop.. will keep the Bilsteins until they give up the ghost.. will also think about the ele fan conv

Lightinrod,
that is the system I am considering if I decide to do it.. still pretty happy with stock.. but there are times I would like a little more "roar" to the L..

Havent really decided

what to do more to the inside yet.. I have the Wet Okele's. I upgraded the stereo.. my only concern about putting billet or chrome on the inside is the fingerprints..

Stock shocks can take a 1/2 drop at the most.
1" up fron and 2" in the back.

Unless you get A-Arms up front, then you can go
3" with a drop coil and still us stock shock in the front.

My L is daily driven. She has been to the dealer for warranty repairs with the Lower Pulley and the Pro M 80 and they didn't say didly squat.

As far as the extended warranty I have spoken to many in the field and everyone says that the extended warranty sucks... not worth the $$ and you can use that extra cash for more mods.. but you are far from the extended warranty.

There's one life to live so live it to it's fullest and let the L live it up too! Pamper her like you would pamper yourself!

What do you want to run? Do you have a goal?
