Just curious... I know they are new, but anyone ever seen/heard about any 1/4 mile times? I test drove one yesterday, and it sure felt stronger than my 99 R/T, esp in 3rd, but (of course) not as strong as my T/A, but as you know, weight/ride makes a big difference in how fast a vehicle "feels"

The reason I ask is that I am tired of F-Bodies (on my third) and want to get back into a truck. I really like the L, but the Ram that I am looking at is exactly 10K than the charcoal grey L that I was looking at.

If it is gonna be a turd (no offense r/t guys... i liked my dak... i just expected more from it). I don't want it.

So, any ideas/facts about how these will perform in a reg cab 1500 with 345hp and 3.92s?

Sounds like just another Silverado SS.

 

No flame intended, but why don't you try one of the Dodge boards? I would think that would be better for hard numbers.

The only Dodge that is even a blip on my radar is the vaporware Ram SRT-10.

Buy the L.

some of the new hemi owners thought that since the new dodge 1/2 ton has 35less hp than the Lightning, that they would be at least "in the race", but when you look at the massive amount of torque available to the Lightning throughout the band, it's really not even close

 

well, you came to a Lightning board, so I will state the obvious answer: BUY THE LIGHTNING!!! you wont regret it, the word "Dodge" will be gone from your vocabulary after the first drive

Thanks for the input. I didn't expect for it to be a lightning killer. Just a quick full size p/u. I have driven/raced and am quite familiar with the lightning. The L is a totally different animal from engine to suspension to trim level. As for the srt-10 if i am not going to fork over the dough for an L, I for sure won't for that. Since I couldn't find any dodge boards (maybe I was searching too specifically) I figured that I would hop over here and see what you guys have to say.

I didn't try any dodge boards because I couldn't find any searching on google.

If you have any links to good dodge message boards, post up.

15.1?? It felt a little stronger than that. I was guessing high 14's, but we all know how reliable magazines times are. Oh, well... I guess I have a good project truck. I ordered one a little while ago. Black rc with sport appearance and 20" rims.

there's only one MRbbqman. there a lot of talk about the hemi, in the dodge section of pickuptruck.com. one guy claimed his 14.85, which was ok with everyone, until he claimed 101mph, which was later recanted to 93mph . i'm sure we will see high 14's as the motors are broken in

 

Welp, the poor sucker last night at Magnolia and Garfield in my city got an *** spanking he will never forget in his Hemi 1500.

It was almost 2:00 am and im coming home from a night out. I was quite surprised this light even turned red as there was absolutely no traffic anywhere. To the right is this gas station and this Dodge 1500 hemi pulls up next to me. It was silver. I think what got my blood pumping was the fact that he actually revved up on me.

It was 46 degrees outside and i saw 10 psi with just a JLP airbox and chip. With gregg Evans valve body smackin gears, i was spinning between each shift and all over the lane. The truck was an absolute monster and he was a dot in my mirror. I bet he didnt expect to hear a lightning barking gears like a mustang.

They arent fast. Alot of the Dodroids claim that with an after market supercharger, they will haul ***. What they forget to remember is the crappy pistons and rods that come in those motors and it will go Boom!

 

I am still waiting on my first Hemi kil..... If it would only just stop snowing!!!!

 

you can get a hemi ram 1500 w/20s for like 24k, buy a blower and yur in good hands....with money to spare
