Fat Butt problem Solved !
Thanks for the info. Maybe we can have Superfords do a pictorial for us with rubber gloves and all. I'll be ripping that stupid thing out tomorrow. How much time did it take you start to finish?
5 minutes and my *** will not have something biting it everytime I ride in the L?? what a bargain and just think of the weight reduction by taking that bar out. It should be worth a tenth or 2.

i'm 5'11 135lbs.
i think the seats will be cheaper haha, you can sell your stock seats.
you pay out about 400$ for custom seats after you've sold you stockers.
now i think it will take more then 400$ of junk food to gain 10 inches of waist

Always nice to see your own photos surface nearly two years later. Good to know the effort wasn't a waste.
I was always curious if taking that bar out would eventually lead to the foam crushing down and looking goofy. Can imagine that it is way more comfy without, however!!

I did a search and found the "how-to" fix on the seat... downloaded all the pics and text, jazzed it up a bit, and took it into the dealership with my Lightning and the the pipe insolator stuff.
They fixed it per the directions

I would love to do that...
I am always moving my left leg around because that damn bar is pushing right up into the middle of my leg/***...
However...I am afriad that after time, without that bar the left side of the seat will droop.
Since you were brave enough to remove the bar,
please keep us updated and let us know if the loss of support causes the side to collaspe after time.

When I took the seat apart to install the new foam cushion, I too worried about taking the bar completely off. But after total dis-assembly, I came to the conclusion that the bar doesn't do anything to support us in driving. The seat cushion sits on a perimeter of metal framework and cannot go anywhere, and offers the same support, bar or not. The only difference and the reason I think they used the bar in the first place, was to stiffen that part of the bolster to hold up for entry and exit. Trust me, with the bar out there is virtually no difference at all, just as long as you replace this pocket with similar foam. Based on the miles I have put on it since this change, it is holding up great. (and way more comfortable) If the bar was that important for the seat to work, why wouldn't they have put one on the right hand side (of the driver seat) as well? Once the weather warms up, i'm going to yank out the passenger one as well.
