Rear Sliding Window

Have a problem with my rear sliding window making noise. The window rides in a plastic type track cover or whatever you want to call it that runs from the drivers side to the end of the sliding window by the locking mechanism. The plastic makes a rubbing type sqeaking noise. If I put pressure on the sliding window it goes away or if I open the window about four inches it goes away. The noise is coming from the plastic track cover chaffing ont eh window. Has anybody else had this problem and how can I fix this annouance?

I forgot to say that the problem is on the top part of the window.

I haven't noticed a noise on my 01 but maybe a dab of WD40 would clear it up. There is a wax-like tube of lubicant for window tracks that would be better though. Sorry, i d/k the name of it.

My last 99 did made a noise.specially when it was cold out. The channel the window slides in is flimsey plastic and it distorts and rubs enough to rattle squeak...I just shimmed it with a piece of whatever..But the dealer did offer to fix it..I just never bothered..I play the tunes loud...

Don't know if it's the same, but when mine was making an annoying noise, I realized the window wasn't closed all the way. Try a bit more pressure when closing.

Twisted99,

Thats exactly the same problem I'm having and it does happen more in the cold wheather. The key is: flimsey plastic and it distorts.

Mine makes the noise if it's app. 40 deg. or colder--any other time, never hear it.

Yeah mine makes a noise too... started about 6 months ago. Its not that loud and I have just learned to ignore it...

Also when closing the rear window do so carefully. When I first got my truck I used to just sling it closed. I eventually broke the plastic latch and had it replaced. Now I close it very carefully!

My rubber gasket between on the outside of the window would not stay in palce when opening and closing. No real noise though it was under warranty.....they fixed it alright....replaced the whole rear window assembly...no further problems
