I was looking forward to hearing different exhaust. I want a catback but don't know which brand to go with(they all sound so good from the clips).
I second this. I wanted to go just to meet and see the rides of people on this board. Sure... it would be cool to see and hear a few L's run the 1/4 mile. I actually had not planned on racing. I just thought it would be cool to put faces with screen names.
I'm not sure I could go a different weekend at this point.
However, if the weather is bad... that's a whole different story.

I would say still come. They said it wouldnt be the IDEAL time to test and tune, but i can almost guarantee everyone will be able to get at least 3 passes as long as you are ready when they call for time trials. Its just going to be a window of time for each run instead of going up to the line whenever you feel like it.

Oh yea, and the track will be prepped a whole lot better on a day there is a race than just a t&t day.

I think we should still go, but it's a group thing. what's everybody else want to do? take a vote or something? maybe take a roll call of who is still planning to attend?

I'm sure it'll still be fun. we'll just have more time to BS and cool down and stuff.

we can tailgate or cookout or something?

let me know.

later,
chris

Unless rain, or something serious comes up, I'll be there. I don't intend to race, I just want to see some other L's and talk.

Ditto!

Its a 550mile trip for me so I was leary of racing my L but still intended to go and put faces to names.... and over you guys modded rides

I'm still up for going but would like to make it a time when lots of you will be there because it is such a long drive.

i will be racing at New Symerna in a Allison legacy car Fri and Sat the weekend of the 500. it is about 30 minutes at the most from the speedway. Im number 16 car is petty blue and my name is John Bolen. It would be nice to get to meet another fellow L owner.

I am game for still going. I may call them to see if they will do something for us. Maybe at least one or two 1/4 miles test sessions. Is everyone game? I dont care to bracket race there so I may see what they will do for us. I would still LOVE to go....

I will let you guys know that some of the best racing I have gotten to do at Kinston was during a race day weekend. I would think there would still be time for everyone to run all they wanted to. One other nearby option if someone wants to call is HERE

well, I definately still hope to go. it would be cool if they could hook us up. maybe if we can get a certain number of trucks together? might mean that some of you grannies (j/k) who just plan to watch might need to make a couple of runs?

I don't know. I just hope it works out. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and getting out on the track for some first of the year numbers in the cool/cold air!!!

SO, PUT ME DOWN FOR A SOLID "I'M THERE!"

later,
chris

P.S. latemodelRacer2, I'm going down on Wednesday the 12th? through that following Monday the 17th? with some guys from work. one of them has this killer giant RV. we are staying in the infield. it will be my first time in Daytona. I don't know if we are going to have transportation in and out of the track (I know once the winnie is parked, it's staying put). but it would be cool to meet you too. it's a bunch of ford mechanics going together, so we're all car guys. if we can make it to your race, that will be cool. hope to see you in sunny FLORIDA!

Yes, i was planning on seeing if anyone wanted to bring grills or whatever to cookout. The only grill i have is a big gas grill. Back in my mustang days at this track (6-7 years ago) we used to grill out there everytime we went.

Ok guys, I have emailed the track to see if we can set something up. I told them we would all pay some type of fee just to setup and few test sessions in between their bracket race rounds. I am thinking maybe $10-20 a person would be fair for them to do this.

I also told them it would be a good show to put on what some of these new performance vehicles can do!!

We will see what they say..... Hopefully that can happen, it would be sweet to show ourselves off during breaks of the other guys....
