Check out track happenings and gate openings here

jefflaws, glad Kinston is still on the map over there. You can not see anything else on the TV except the story of the explosion. All the victims and thier families are in my prayers.

Oh this sucks.... They added this Feb 8th race now.... That will mess some things up for sure. It may be a 1/8th mile only day and VERY packed. They are showing a big bucks race....

Jeff can you call and get info on whats taking place? This was not on their site a few weeks ago....

I am almost 100%(that would mean 98-99% sure that it will be a 1/8th mile only day. I have gotten a lot of good 1/8 mi. runs in there at Kinston on a weekend like that. They have a message forum off of their site and a guy that works the track regularly checks in daily it seems. Someone might want to check that out. There is also Coastal Plains Dragstrip in Jacksonville, N.C. that is not too far away from Kinston(45min-1hr.) They might be open for a group of L's in the 1/4. Also there is a dyno shop close to Jacksonville that some might be interested in visiting.

Let me call this morning and see if test and tune is this weekend. Iknow the weekend after the 8th was a problem for at least 2 of yall, so i'll see whats going on the week after that too. Its reallly hard to tell what the turnout for the race on the 8th will be. Theres a good chance that the race part of the day wont be all that big of a deal. If they were to have the track ready to run at 11, and didnt start the race until 2:30, then it might still be a good time to be there. Also in the past, when there is a race, they will let people run t&t between every round of the race. That would give everyone cool down time maybe. Anyway, i'll check and see.

Richard, VMP's first T&T is March 1st and might work as a fallback?

I talked to a guy that works at the track, and he said that the 8th wouldnt be as good of a time to test and tune as this coming weekend, or the 22nd. This weekend is supposed to be great weather, in the 50's here. Its up to yall....

Yeh, I can't make it any other weekend either. The 8th or sometime in March is good for me.

Same here but since my home town isn't far from KDS I guess if you guys cancel I could use the trip just as a visit or reschedule my time off for another weekend. But it would be in March before I could take anymore time off.

So I'm neutral I guess.... I really wanted to drool over Richard's new mods though

I'm still all out for going if anyone else is. It'd be good to see some of the people on this board. Plus I haven't seen any drag racing in a couple of months now. I was looking forward to hearing different exhaust. I want a catback but don't know which brand to go with(they all sound so good from the clips).
