Nice Rims Tim! Anythings better than those stockers! They look really clean...like the fat "lip" on them also. The machined look is nice, yet subtle.

Mark.

Well .... this is probably easier than starting with a Porche and trying to make a pickup truck out of it

Looks good Tim

I'm not an aftermarket wheel guy but those are NICE!!

details?

Did the stainless steel brake lines come as part of the Brembo setup?

Thanks to all for the (sought-after) compliments.

The wheels are Moda (Tire Rack house brand) 20X9.5. About the same weight as stock.

One issue: the finish leaves much to be desired--the clear coat has the thickest orange peel I have ever seen on anything. I am going to investigate refinishing the rims or color sanding.

The F150 version came from the OEM with a bad chamfer where it goes over the hub. Took them months to get the wheels machined. I suspect that post-modification refinishing caused the orange peel--they are from an OEM in Germany, where I can't imagine they left the factory with that poor of a finish. But they look great from 10 feet, no?

The Brembos come with stainless lines, but they failed on the previous owner, so I had to buy some separately.

Very sweet indeed

But if Porsche built this truck most of us wouldn't be able to afford one.

Tim,

They look real good however $389 each is a little steep. The wife would be less than amused at a $2000 wheel/tire purchase but maybe I can pursuade her into a 2-day Hi-Perf driving school at Bondurant, Barber, Derek Daly's. hehe

The previous owner had stainless steel lines fail?!

Where did you score the replacements? Earls, Ruslow? (feel free to email if you'd rather not say here)

What brake fluid did you end up using?

Bob

I believe the MODA wheels are made by bbs exclusively for tirerack. Not sure if they come from the same factory or use the same production techniques, but like anything from bbs (including the OEM wheels on my 530i sport) they look like very high quality wheels. Tirerack has always had quality stuff and I ordered the 530i's pilot sports through them, saved $450 off the cheapest price locally (including install!)

Not so any more. Tire Rack no longer has any exclusive "Moda" contract with BBS. Most "Moda"-branded wheels are not made by BBS today. My wheels are OEM'ed from SMS Wheels, German manufacturer.

At least the finish is way below BBS standards. The clear coat on the machnined surfaced has the worst orange peel I have ever seen. It is actually puddled, with waves from the spray gun all across them. Waiting to see if Tire Rack is willing to do anything about it. It looks like the clearcoat is deep enough to be color sanded.

Does anyone know if clear powder coat can be color sanded?
