Full Review of JDM BILLET AXLE GIRDLE installation
you know the noise you can never repeat in the shop
funny story, many years ago. I bought a brand new 1973 Gran Torino Sport, red w/black vinyl roof and the lazar strip down the side. 351 Cleveland 4V, very fast car
Anyway, the car had this frigging rattle, took it to the shop many times, couldn't find it. So finally I took the service manager out , driving over speed bumps in a shopping center at 45/55 mph in the parking lot. The car wouldn't make a bit of noise.
The "rattle" turned out to be the latch for the passenger seat back. When someone was sitting in the seat, it wouldn't rattle
Qa1's are my next spending project after I do the LT's
Did you purchase Ruslow's pan-hard bar also
it really tightens up the rear in corners

oh, yeah we get plenty of non existant noises. whenever you ride with the customer, they never act up. happens every time.
No I didn't buy the panhard bar. I'm going to try just the kit and shocks first and see how it works out.
later,
chris
P.S. Gran Torino with a stripe? Like Starsky and Hutch?

No it was a strip that changed color as it went front to back.
The strip was along the body above the wheelwells
But thats a 73
I had the maganum 500 wheels with Goodyears Polyglas (Now thats a blast from the past)

next you need to refill your axle with gear oil. I pulled the fill hole on the front/driver side of the axle housing so I could monitor the fluid level. the instructions tell you to fill the axle here, but I have found it easier/cleaner to remove the abs sensor at the top of the housing and pour the fluid in from the top. this is totally up to you.
the truck took EXACTLY 3 quarts of the recommended SYNTHETIC 75-140 gear oil. I should note here that the instructions (and Ford) call for a bottle or two of Friction modifier be added to the axle. This additive is designed to make the clutches in the rear quieter by helping them to slip, your trac-lok will actually perform better without it. I left it out, but again check with JDM before straying from their instructions.

I know right, like for example: I'd like to go in tomorrow and install my new lowering springs and sway bars, but I guarantee you a bunch of people will show up with windstars and exploders and tauruses (tauri?... tortises?) for me to work on instead.

80-90 is conventional gear oil.
75-140 is synthetic

Chris what I was saying is that the Lightning supplement guide that I got with my truck says to use Motorcraft Premium 80w-90 rear axle lube. This same supplement says the rear axle is filled with a synthetic lube. Now the other regular F-150 guide(thick one) says to use Motorcraft 75w-140 in the 8.8,9.75 and 10.25 rearends. This to me applies to the non Lightning vehicles. Its most likely a screw up on Ford but that is how it is in the capacities and specifications guide. My 99 Lighnings guide was the same way... I know other companies make a syn. 80w-90 lube...
