Question Autometer vac/boost gauge clarification

I just ordered the steering column pod and Auto Meter Phantom 30 Hg vac / 20 Psi boost gauge from Jeg's. I hope I get the right parts though. The description Jeg's has for part # 105-5701 is 30Hg vac / 30psi boost gauge. But the part number (5701) is the correct number according to the Auto Meter web page.

Has anyone ordered these same parts from Jeg's before?
105-5701 (gauge)
105-15004 (steering column pod)

I sure hope their description is wrong.

Also, Vinnie or who ever has done the vac/boost gauge install before. I did a search for the correct size tee to use to tap into the factory line and I have seen two different sizes given.
One person said to use a 7/64" tee. Another person said to use a 3/16" tee and a 1/8" x 5/32" elbow.

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Actually according to Autometer's website P/N #5703 is the 30/30 gauge. That is the one I have.

The 7/64" 'T' is what I used. Trust me the stuff will work.

i've used both

a 3/16 x 3/16 x 3/16 "T" is the better of the two IMHO (think DIY boost bypass with the spare) but the 7/64 will work also.

I've installed both. No troubles with either.

do you have to have it installed by someone? is it hard? I was thinking about picking up a double gauge setup once I put a #2 or #4 on.

I went with bobs recommendation on the 3/16th sizes and they are PERFECT and tight.

Thanks Soap and Speedin Bob,

I'm going to get a 3/16" tee and a 7/64" tee and see which one fits better. I don't imagine they cost too much.

I just checked the Auto Meter web site again and they list model # 5701 as a 30 Hg.-Vac./20 PSI boost phantom gauge

Hopefully the description is wrong on the Jeg's web page.

I guess I 'll find out real quick when it arrives sometime next week.

Eric
