I am at the tail end (24 days left) of a 6 month license suspension for getting two speeding tickets on what MA calls the "Junior Operator License" (under 18). MA laws suck a$$, the second ticket was two weeks before my 18th b-day, the cop knew it, the ticket was for "speed greater than reasonable" (I was doing the speed limit, but in the rain). TOTAL BS, the fine was the minimum $75, which I had no problem paying. had no idea I would still have to serve the suspension, for a slap-on-the-wrist bogus ticket like that. cyntaxx, definitely get a lawyer. they dont believe anything people our age say in court, even if we present ourselves as clean cut, articulate, and respectful

There has been a law like that for a long time for 18 and under in illinois and the suspension was for a year. They juse recently updated it. It happened to me when I was 17. All you have to do is go to the county courthouse where the tickets were issued and get a motion form to re open the ticket case. You need the ticket number and you have to fill out one for each ticket. You will then recieve a court date on the spot for each one. Go to court, plead guilty and ask for court supervision. You can do it to only one ticket if you want and your license will be reinstated but I would get them both removed.

Oh btw, You have to pay a cash fee when you re open the case too. For now on, always when you get a ticket, either fight it in court, or ask for supervision and you'll never have to worry about this again.

I almost forgot, when your in court, try to get a form from the court clerk saying you have supervision and sent it to the sec. of state yourself or it will take 6 weeks to 2 months for them to file it and reinstate your license.

I also wouldn't drive on a suspended license. If caught, your a$$ will be in a world more trouble.

NJ just gives all new drivers a nice bonus bunch of DMV points (non-fine type)...so that if you get the tickets, it equals the amount for suspension anway, lol.

Here in Texas you are allowed to take defensive driving to get rid of a ticket. Only once in a 12 month period. Then for your second ticket they have a deal called deferred adjudication where you have to go for 6 months without a moving violation. Catch is, if you get a moving violation in the 6 month period, both tickets go against you...ouch 2 at once.
The neat thing about it is it allows you 2 free tickets a year .

yes i am in the process of getting them to motion to vacate a previous guilty plea in order to get court supervision. however i hope there won't be a long downtime between getting the court supervision and taking the ticket off my license/reinstating my license.

hopefully it will waive the suspension before it takes effect, but we shall see.

do they really throw you in county if you drive with your license temp. suspended? or is it just a ticket?

oh and this law effects all under 21 not 18. i dont know who to blame more: the stupid age discriminating law or the stupid people my age who make it necessary.

Straight pipes and a suspended license? Recipe for a stint in the Tippecannoe County pokey and the truckster straight to the impound yard.

That law sucks Hog, or something.

Cyntaxx, it's bad new's to drive on a suspended license. State law's may vary but you can bet the penalty if you get caught will be harsh and then your license probably suspended for a real long time if not indefinitely. Just live with it unless you can get it officially cleared. Visit the college library and ask for reference material on State Law's, etc. or ask a Criminology Professor for advice on finding out the info you want. Just my opinion's and i don't want to see a Lightning brother get himself in trouble.

dude I got the same crap not to long ago and I thought the same thing about a kid I know who had like 10 tickets in 1 year!

I got two tickets withint 23 months of each other and since I was under 21 at the time they suspended my license like the bastards that are.

one of my tickets was speeding on my way down to LA for a trip, 78 in a 65. the last one was a burnout ticket.

don't ask me how I got around while I was suspened but lets just say I didn't care to much for there laws! luckily I was driving a work car the entire time so nomatter what I was just working, HAHAHAHHAHA.

Cyntaxx,

How do you vacate a guilty plea on a previous ticket?
