Sound deadning the cab of your truck

Recently I put new carpet in my truck (black) and the sound level slighty increased with less padded carpet now. This winter I'm gutting the truck to redo the interior for the hell of it and also I was thinking about adding sound deading material to make it quite when I'm just cruising and I don't care to hear long tubes with bassani.

What kind of results have you guys experienced and is it worth it to do two layers, or even 3 layers? do most just do floors, or walls also?

Just trying to get a good idea of what to do before I go ahead with it. I really hate hot stiick tar, HEHEHEHEHE.

get on ebay and snag yourself some raammat 60 v.2. 2 layers of that stuff is all it should take care of your damping mat needs. Do the doors, back, and floor. You will also need to use some closed cell foam since damping mat doesnt do hardly anything for mid-high frequency noise. Insulite is recommended but hard to find. 1/8" is recommended for between the inside metal part of the door and the plastic panel. Helps keep things from rattling also which is a big plus. You can get away with a thicker or multiple layers under the carpet. Jute pad also works under the carpet.

all depends

It's a function of material and weight of the material....

I used b-quiet.com and really love the products, so I'll use them, but almost everyone has the some products:

Extreme: basically tar paper. 2 layers+ foam = nice and quiet (my setup)

Brown-Bread: lighter, rubber base. 1 layer =2 layers of Exteme, slightly heavier layer per layer.

lite: 1/2 as good, 1/2 the weight, $$$ no reason except to kill small rattles.

V Comp: foam to kill the mid-range

L Comp: foam with a suspeneded lead sheet. VERY effective.

Quietest system: 2 layers of brown bread and a layer of L Comp on everything. Estimated weight: 100lbs.
