Tranny Problems :(
Tranny Problems :(
First the motor now the tranny LOL. Was driving along and the SES light came on and the OD light on the shifter started blinking on and off and the truck would not shift into overdrive. After stopping and playing with the button for awhile it eventually went off and the truck now shifts into OD again but the SES light is still on and every once in awhile the tranny seems to disengage for a split second then engage again.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Guess I need to take it back in to the dealer again...kinda sucks that Ford has had my truck in for service now for more time than I've actually had it since I bought it

Sounds like a solenoid or main control problem. I'm betting solenoid because of the SES, the main control will ussually throw a code but only give you the blinking OD light. A check engine light is almost always electrical if it's transmission. Is your speedometer acting erratic? If it is it's the Turbine Speed Sensor or Output Speed Sensor.

Had the exact same problem a month ago, ended up being a solenoid. Had it replaced by Ford.
What year is your truck? Any mods?
Here is my post...

Thanks guys for the help, talked ot a friend today that also had this same thing happen and he said it was the "line pressure control valve" dunno what he was talking about but probably he was referring to the solenoid. He said it was a pretty easy fix only took a day at the dealership.
Thats a big relief to me, hope thats what the problem is.
And nope the speedo is working perfectly fine today the OD light started flashing again but this time the truck shifted into OD just fine and when the light started blinking if i would downshift out of OD then let the truck shift back into OD it would go off.
very strange problem LOL

I'd bet on one of these from the dealer
1713-1717 codes
1733
1745-1754
1760
1788-1789
Just a guess, but I'll bet it's one of those.
And I still think it's the solenoid.
Hope you get it figured out.

Yep, sure sounds like its a solenoid! Hopefully this can be fixed pretty quick because with work it makes it really difficult to leave the truck at the dealer. I really need to put a new bottom end in my stang so I have another car to drive...
Is it bad to be driving the truck with this problem? I dont want to ruin the tranny but there just aren't enough hours in the day lately...
