Sold my Lightning Last Night and.....

I just got a call from the new owner, and the truck will not generate enough power to climb a hill in Pennsylvania.
It is idling erratically and missing when the gas pedal is depressed.

Any Ideas?

This is a 2000 with 21, 500 miles.

I does have stock plugs, never touched.

It is weird, I drove the truck almost 250 miles to meet him yesterday, with no issues what so ever.

There is NO "SES" Lamp on.

I too, am wondering if it is one of the fuel pumps, I know there were a rash of 99 models with this aliment, and this is a early 2000 model.

Well there are new real wires of course, but it could be a few things....

Coil Pack, Fuel Filter, Fuel Pump, Plugs, since its really stock it has to be something along those lines....

Sounds like plugs to me. That sucks. I sold my '70 vette conv. earlier this year. The day the guy picked it up, the throw out bearing started making noise. The first time I sold it the heater core went so the guy didn't buy it.

I had a friend sell his mustang and the next day the oil pump siezed. The car was perfect. He felt bad and helped the guy put a new one in. This stuff just happens for some wierd reason like the car knows it is being sold.

I'm sure it will be something simple.
Maybe the truck is mad, because I sold it...
It just sucks to be stranded with a vehicle, especially a low mileage that you just bought.

Those are exactly the symptoms of the fuel pump (actually the fuel pump hose connection). Dealer can diagnose it quickly enough.

It cost me $275 to fix out of warranty, but Ford kicked back $225 when I asked the dealer (nicely) for some consideration.

The Truck was purchased in 02/29/2000, and has 21,500 on it so it is under warrenty.

I hope Ford Can fix it fast and get my truck's new owner on his way.

Is there any chance that the fuel is low enough and the hill is steep enough to starve the fuel pickups

Sounds like bad gas

Fuel Pump without a doubt. Little rubber hose pops off. Seen it a million times.
