Why not go to autotrader.com and look for a cheap Honda? There are some cheap and fuel efficient cars there.

I agree. An older Honda or even something like a 95 Nissan pick-up, My neighbor had one and he basically neglected the thing.Just replaced tyhe original battery 2 years ago.He just bought a new F-150 only for the sake of getting a new vehicle. He sold the truck for 1,800.I wish I knew cuz I need a beater as well. It still looked good and I watched the new owner fire it right up after it was sitting for 6 Months and drove it away.It was simple and reliable. There's still a place in my heart for vehicles like that.

Ummm...

If those are your 2 current vehicles, I would imagine you could afford to buy whatever the heck you wanted for a daily driver! I would say with that many miles swallow your pride and get a 4 cylinder import, honda civic, toyota corolla, vw golf... something like that with 30+ mpg.

Well if you're considering a GTI shoot me an email. I'll let you drive mine and give you the lowdown on them.

Compared to SVT Focus, the GTI has a nicer interior, much worse handling, stock for stock about the same speed (acceleration), and if you stay of the boost mid to high 20mpg. But if you happen to chip the GTI, it's just a few tenths slower then a stock L in the 1/4.

I Drive an 03 jetta gls 1.8t as an everyday beater. Quite peppy in stock form and I get 30+ mpg and I drive it pretty hard. I will probably get flamed for this, but I prefer driving it compared to the L which I drove everyday for 2 years. I got it so the L could rest and I've probably put 10 miles on it since then. Plus I can fit the wifey and the kids in it.

If I could do it over, I would have gotten a lexus is300 5speed. They are practically giving them away now and I think it is the most sexy car.

It's got a 351 and the mileage is worst than the Lightning
7 tanks of gas coming back from Fla, pulling a trailer at 80/100 mph

The proper term is a "Battle Wagon"

... I really wish my grandfather had kept his instead of giving it to my cousin. I loved that car.
