just got my straight pipes installed today. 100% stainless steel and stock size 2.5" tubing. stock tips. it's an aftercat system so all the cats are retained, etc...

boy is it LOUD. now i know why the previous owner sold them....they are ungodly. if i wasn't such a young whipper snapper

however does not sound like your avg dual exhaust you see on z71s, etc....its a LOT more throaty and responsive. blipping the throttle sends chills down my spine. there is a bit of a drone at highway speeds though, but i dont mind it that much. i drove it about 2 hrs and did not really mind.

this was just an experiment for me....got the pipes at a pretty good price and i figured why not?

most importantly, i didn't notice any seat-of-the-pants torque loss, especially in the lower rpm range. on the flipside, i didn't feel any upper end hp gains either....however i might see some differences if i pulled some #s on a dyno...


so for those of you guys out there who simply want loud, rumbly, throaty exhaust, i highly recommend it! however if you dont like ANY drone on the highway and want something more subtle, this is definitely not the system for you....

Any sound clips of the straight pipes? Do you have an X-pipe then the straights? Just wondering.

 

mine just dump right before the cats, i dont think there would be away to xpipe mine before cats...sometime soon i will get a WOT driveby with a digital camera. but where can i post them?
