Arrow Reliability Issues

I love Lightnings and as soon as my Mustang sells I am going to get one but I don't want something that is a real pain in the ***. I also don't want something that is going to wear out at 50000 miles. Don't get me wrong I am a car guy and know my way around under the hood. And I want to stay with some that is a Ford and fast! Has anyones Lightning ever let them down or left them stranded? Can these engines last with the supercharger for 80-100 thousand miles or is that just out of the question? I know the mods will have a lot to do with it and I just want to know what you think on stock trucks. Is it really that much worse when you start modding it? Sorry about all the questions, I know engines, but don't know supercharges. That is why I sound so dumb.

I have a 99 at 71,000 miles with no problems big enough to complain about. The Lightnings are very good trucks and for a high performance vehicle, very reliable if you take care of it. If it's not ran hard all the time along with regular maintainance it can last a long time. Also keep up on whats going on as far modding and do's and don'ts. Preventive maintanance are a big thing with these trucks . I think if you change your fuel filter every 5-10K miles, oil and most of all!, keep check of your plugs, you'll be fine . I'm no engine guru but by being a member of this board you learn a lot..

Take care and Happy Holidays!

I've seen this before...

NO OFFENSE -

I call these people "fretting Freddy's" they are common on the Ford Diesel board these guys all they do is post about every little squeak or noise they hear - they worry and fret about thier trucks like a new "mother over her first born" - it's just a HOOT to read the stuff...

Don't get caught up in that ...

Anyway...leave it stock and you should not see any serious problems...mod it...and well..use at your own risk.

I had a 2000 with 43K miles that should've been (never got a chance to run it down a 1/4) a low 12 second truck. Over time, I had a few minor problems, but nothing worth complaining about. I'm sure it could've ran strong for at least 43K more.

I have a 99 with about 38,000 miles on it. Good truck. I thrash on it but I also take very good care of it. Do the minor mods and preventive maintenance and you should be fine. You should have been here when our intercoolers were failing. That really thinned out the Lightning crowd.
