Hit while parked

I was parked in front of a shop in Hermosa beach today, when i hear a crunch. Some young girl in a new boxster, hit my drivers side fender, drivers side rim, peels off the front valence and cracks the passenger side rim against the curb. The body shop told me 2 new rims and 1 tire, new front valence, fog lamps, and i guess upper grill since mine is a 00. Now i need some advice on how to deal with the insurance co. I want to get 2 new tires, or mabey have them cash me out and get a set of 20" silver replicas.

If you know someone in the body shop industry, this is the only way you can get favors done. The insurance company doesn't usually work with ya.

I had my 96' Mustang Gt hit in my work parking lot. The lady backed into the drivers door and rear quarter. The shop had to replace the quarter, door and refinish the rear wheel. I know the manager of the body shop and got them to repaint my trunk that was peeling while they were there for free.

I have also had a couple of other things done for free when my wife got hit by a semi truck while 8 months pregnant. Thank god she and her mother weren't hurt, but after it was all done, I couldn't afford the $1000 deductible and the body shop worked it where I didn't have to pay for a certain part so that the deductible could be paid out of what the insurance paid.

Bottom Line- Find a body shop and make the manager your friend. OR find a friend that knows a mananger of a shop and call in a favor. That is about the only way you can get these types of things done.

Good Luck anyway, I hope it comes out in your favor.

Best thing to do is get a couple estimates so that you know what to expect form the other drivers insurance company. Most insurance companies will write you a check on the spot. Make sure it is similar to what the estimates you got. The only problem is, if they cash you out, then if some other damage is hidden that they didn't see, it can sometimes be difficult to recover the cost from the insurance company. If you find some hidden damage have the body shop write an estimate and then submit it to the insurance company. I've always cashed out and done whatever work I could do myself and then find a shop to do the rest. The nice thing is, the insurance company will pay you for what the parts cost retail and if you have a connection at a dealer you can purchase them wholesale. You can pocket some money that way that can be used towards other mods or toys. Make sure they also pay you for a car rental that is equivalent to your trucks value. Good luck and sorry to hear about your situation.

A Mexican bandit made a specialty of crossing the Rio Grande from time to time and robbing banks in Texas. Finally, a reward was offered for his capture, and an enterprising Texas ranger decided to track him down.

After a lengthy search, he traced the bandit to his favorite cantina, snuck up behind him, put his trusty six-shooter to the bandit's head, and said, "You're under arrest. Tell me where you hid the loot or I'll blow your brains out."

But the bandit didn't speak English, and the Ranger didn't speak Spanish. Fortunately, a bilingual lawyer was in the saloon and translated the Ranger's message. The terrified bandit blurted out, in Spanish, that the loot was buried under the oak tree in back of the cantina.

"What did he say?" asked the Ranger.

The lawyer answered, "He said 'Get lost, you turkey. You wouldn't dare shoot me.'"

She stoped, i guess she had to her radiatior was blown. We have the same insurance company, so that should save some hassel. The only thing that bothers me is their unwillingness to buy two tires, I dont wanna run one brand new tire and three with about 10K on them.

Well, it's hard to expect the insurance company to pay for something their insured didn't damage. Maybe you can make a deal with the tire store and trade in one of your used ones and pay the difference. Good luck with your repair. Hopefully it will come out good as new.

Always, Always, Always put your mods on a rider. If you
do they cost like $20 extra a year and they pay for them to get replaced too.

<Don't ask how I learned this >

I like this version better.

A white cowboy made a specialty of crossing the Rio Grande from time to time and robbing banks in Mexico. Finally, a reward was offered for his capture, and an enterprising Mexican ranger decided to track him down.

After a lengthy search, he traced the cowboy to his favorite bar, snuck up behind him, put his trusty six-shooter to the cowboy's head, and said, "You're under arrest. Tell me where you hid the loot or I'll blow your brains out."

But the cowboy didn't speak Spanish, and the ranger didn't speak English. Fortunately, a bilingual lawyer was in the saloon and translated the Ranger's message. The terrified cowboy blurted out, in English, that the loot was buried under the oak tree in back of the bar.

"What did he say?" asked the Ranger.

The lawyer answered, "He said 'Get lost, you beaner. You wouldn't dare shoot me.'"
