Let's hope. I've heard as late as '07. Until the future of SVT is more certain I wouldn't plan on anything.

So are you saying they arent going to make a Lightning for a few yrs ? They are switching Body in 04, they arent going to keep the same body when they have a newer body on reg F150. Also, what is in the future for SVT ? They are making money for Ford, Lightning is a Big Seller, Foci are selling and Cobra are selling. The Cobras are selling so good that the base price of them was raised, I guess Ford wanted part of the markup dealers were putting on em.

This article came out a while back:
http://www.detnews.com/2003/insiders...tos-117128.htm

Since then I have only heard more of the same. There is a thread on this board as well that goes more into this issue:
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=114114

The '04 L's will have the same body as the '99-'03's even though the regular F150's will have a new body. The release of the Gen III L with the new body is still uncertain.

Wow thanks for the reading. Personally I like the idea of waiting a yr for the new product. It makes everybody want it that much more and if there are a few yrs gap in the product it makes my current truck worth more during the yrs of no production. I remember when the 4.6 Mustang 1st hit the streets, the Value of the 5.0 cars really held their value. Even today you can sell a 93 Cobra for close to what it went for new.

I'll be able to make a better decision when the final specs for both the Gen III Lightning and the next Cobra are released. There are to many unknowns now.

After doing some more reading up on the '04 F150's, it seems as though the 2003 body will carry over as an option:

The F-150 lineup for 2004 features the all-new F-150 and the F-150 Heritage. The all-new 2004 F-150 provides numerous class-exclusive features while delivering best in class trailer towing, payload capacity, low-end torque and cargo box volume. F-150 Heritage XL and Heritage XLT feature 2003 model carryover styling and offer unique content, including a manual transmission and V-6 engine with carryover pricing starting at $19,125.
