anyone tradin' for an '03 or maybe '04??

hey guys,

i'm kinda thinking i might wait out '03 but then seriously look at the '04s when they come out. some major improvements are expected such as the 3v 5.4l engine with 305hp! more torque and improved tranny (4r75w). maybe daveman can jump in here but i read somewhere that the 4r75w gains more electronics to try and smooth out the shifts and make the tranny a little bit more efficient.

also, i must admit that i don't mind the styling of the brand new expedition and i presume the front end of that truck is a future glimpse of the f150.

anyhoo, guess i'm just bored and wanted to see what others are thinking... have a good fourth!!

I will probably hold on to my truck for awhile. But it will be interesting to see what changes are made. Enjoy your fourth. We'll probably be heading out of town for a week on Monday. Do you usually do anything special for the Fourth?

Later,

Joe

Troy,

I'm considering trading when the new ones come out, when ever that is. I'm working on my fence part of the day on the fourth and all day on the fifth. I used to tell folks that I'd buy a fifth on the third to drink on the fourth, how's that?

Check these links out for info on the new truck.

Check out all the reports on this site, there are six reports for the 2003 truck:

http://www.bonforums.com/trucks/

here's the six report titles:

F150 2003 news, part I

F150_2003 news, part II

F150_2003 news, part III

F150 2003 news, part V

F150 2003 news, part VI

I'm not sure if Ford actually met all their deadlines but I hope so.

Later,
~DM~

daveman,

thanks for the links. i had seen the info at blueoval. will be nice to see a little more gitty up and go in the engine (ala 3v 5.4l engine) but i seriously can't complain too much. altho, i have noticed that the air conditioner puts a very noticeable drain on power.

a fifth on the fourth...now i really like that!!!!

one interesting thing i just discovered...the king ranch has gone up in price during the '02 model year.

my '02 truck listed for 36,710 when it was delivered in october last year. i just went to the ford website and built one exactly like mine...and the new sticker price is 37,250! thus my truck has appreciated in value to the tune of 540 bucks!!!

seriously tho, i'm half expecting the '04 king ranchers to be pushing 40k, and that to me is deeply sobering...

I plan to look very closely at the 2003's when they come out, but will give in to getting rid of mine only if they make it worth my while and enough nicer stuff is available. I've heard a number of different stories, so I shall just wait and see for myself when some get on the lots.

2004 F-150's will NOT look like the new Expeditions. Think along the lines of SuperDuty and you won't be far off. Look for some really nifty interior features for the "luxury" editions - if they make the cut. So far, they are pretty much on schedule.
