BTW... the slider looks great. Very clean install. Have you leak tested it?

No leaks noted and it works like a champ. That wire was the one I had started to tap into on Thurs.night(I actually tried with a splice connector that was too small and just dented the insulation) It seemed like the only logical one after looking at the size of some of the other wires and tracing that harness as far as I could. Thanks again for your help. I also got my maglight installed last night while I was finishing up the window wiring. I put it on the driver's seat bracket and it seems to work well. I don't know what mod will be next. It will be a few months before I can do any major engine mods I think and I am about out of small stuff. Maybe some minor stereo mods will be next.

THANKS AGAIN!

Mark

Rear window slider switch

Does anyone know where I can pick up a new switch for the rear window slider? I went to Ford and they informed me that it was an aftermarket system and couldn't help me. I have the same switch as is seen in a 2003 post with the CR Laurence upgrade kit. If any one can help tell me where I can find it it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help and I will help where I can.

You can get the Ford OEM switch and it will work with the aftermarket kit. That's what I did to make the installation on the dash look like it belonged. I got the huge bulky switch with the Laurence kit and found a dash bezel that had the hole already in it and the switch. I'd be hardpressed right now to look up the part numbers because I'm in the middle of a move, but they can be had.

God I hope the previous posters are still subscribed to this thread. :)

Hey guys. I've been searching all over the net for months for info on adding a power rear slider to my '03 Lightning. This thread is by far the most informative and detailed out there. I'm having a problem getting mine wired up. I purchased the kit from a Ford dealer (complete with wiring and the bulky switch). I previously installed a Harley dash bezel precut for power pedals and power slider. I purchased the Contour switch.

The problem I'm having is I don't have a Contour wiring harness. Behind my dash is an orange connector that the Contour switch connects to. It has 6 wires coming out of it (3 black, 1 Lt Blue / Blk, 1 Purple / Green, & 1 Purple / Blue). I wanted to utilize as much of the factory wiring as possible, but I don't know what to connect to where.

Here's some pics of where I'm at to help:
My Panel and switch:

The stock harness that the slider switch connects to:

(3 Blk, 1 Lt Bl/Blk, 1 Prp/Grn, 1 Prp/Bl)

I was hoping the wires that would go to the slider motor would end in a plug that I could connect my new motor to, so I traced the two purple wires and the light blue to the passenger side kickpanel, where they dead end in a connector:

I spliced the two wires from the motor to the two purple wires there, connected a wire with 20amp fuse from fuse #30 to the Lt Blu/Blk wire, and connected the ground wire from the kit from a ground bolt to one of the heavier guage ground wires, but the window isn't moving yet. How do I test to figure out what I did wrong?

The underside of the dash it too tight for me to see if the purple wires are unbroken (like a missing or broken fuse) between where I see the switch connector and where I refind the wires in the passenger side kick panel.

I've been fighting this for days, and I thought it was going to be done in one afternoon. Here's how she's been sitting for days:

I want to have it test well before I cut the sealant on the old window and swap them out.

Argh!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

William

Well, I goofed up the electrical for sure. Not only does the slider not operate, but I cranked up the truck to pull it out of the garage. When I turned it off, and took the key out, the trunk was still running until I opened the door.

I called Ford, and tried to order the wiring harness from a Contour, so my wires would be the same as the ones shown here, but they aren't available anymore.

HHHEEEEELLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!
