Conditioner
Conditioner
I applied the conditioner to the seats for the first time today. I'm not sure if it just soaked it all in or what, but there wasn't any residue that i had heard about that I needed to wipe off afterward. It was a nice day today too...sunny and 78....is this a cause for concern, or did I do something wrong or what. I know that it still smells like a purse.
Speaking of, has anyone had any problems with the leather drying or fading/wearing out? Or has it been long enough to be able to tell? My back seat is starting to get worn...but the leather is holding up so far!!!

I have a tiny bit of wear on the driver's side at the front corner nearest the door. I suspect that area has the most flex and wear when getting in and out of the vehicle. Basically, I pay special attention to that area when conditioning and saturate that area.
When you were conditioning, were you using the Ford KR leather conditioner? If so, I had a similar experience when I used it for the first and only time. I've sinced switched to a product called 'LEXOL' which is, by far and away, better than the Ford conditioner.
The Ford conditioner is a 'solvent-based' conditioner that, I'm told, will slowly break down the stitching over many years of use and wear (whether or not that's true, I'm not sure...). The Lexol is a tanning-oil based conditioner and, in my opinion, works 100 times better than our overpriced conditioner available from the King Ranch Saddle Store.
There have been multiple threads inside this forum concerning leather care on our trucks. Scroll back through some of the archives and check them out. We've discussed SEVERAL brands and SEVERAL results.
Good luck. It's all about the leather man... all about the leather!

LINY,
Not sure if you bought the bottle of 'spray lexol' (same stuff in a spray bottle) but, if you did:
FIRST AND FOREMOST - DO NOT SPRAY IT ON THE LEATHER. Spray it on a terry cloth and work it into the leather... better yet, spray it in your hands and hand work it into the leather. Spraying it directly on the leather will leave spatter marks that are a BEAR to work out (yes, I speak from experience). Also, make sure you shake it up well and often during application as it has a tendency to seperate. I think you'll like this stuff.... I sure do.
GOOD LUCK!
