'02 KR vs. '02 FX4

not sure if any of ya'll are interested, but I drove my moms FX4 yesterday. It drove much stiffer then our KR's...I know many factors may be contributing to this...one of which the truck has exactly 153.6 miles on it....and the Rancho shocks..and maybe, but i really doubt it, but because it is a scab and is lighter. but all in all the truck is fabulous. Also, the seats cushions are stiffer then ours and the leather isn't as soft. And the seats don't have the same contour as ours.

I also notcied that the ride was much stiffer and the seats did not have the same "support". I actually test drove that model first before I saw the KR. Of course after I saw the KR, it was all over for the Lariat FX4

After seeing what I have of both models, it is obvious that Ford expected the FX4 to be a more rugged model, whereas the KR is a luxurious model. Kind of like the difference between a Cadillac and a Jeep, to pick two extremes that aren't Ford products.

well, i would expect the kranch to run smooth as a caddy for the money spent and the market they were going for, basically cowboy golfers, where as the lariat is more for the middle class guy who plans on eventually using his truck as a truck. both great vehicles but completely different market segments. now if they made an f-250 kranch longbed then i would have to seriously consider it. love ridding in skagel's truck though, it is like a caddy on stereroids.

You know

I think that i like a rough ride now and again, as any guy would. But usually smooth and easy is good for me, which is why I went with the KR in the first place....

i'm not saying they will or even should make a kranch f250 like i had mentioned as true, it is completly out of the market segment. i was just saying in a long way that kranches have the worlds sweetest interior bar none and i would love it in my dream truck. more of a long complement to ya'lls trucks.

i just drove through the local ford lot last night (forgot to look at the grab handles, damn) and noticed that nearly 90 percent of his s-crews have the fx4 package. apparently there are alot of folks around here who like to have their kidneys bruised!!!! i'm not one of them. altho i must say the fx4 wheels are kinda nice...

I also thought the fx4 package looked good, loved the wheels. I did not buy one thinking the ride would be too hard. Besides I was able to buy my first choice. The King Ranch.

I would definetly buy a 250 or 350 in the KR Trim. I think Ford is missing the boat here. Anybody who needs to haul horses, or anything for that matter, needs to be comfortable too and the KR interior is perfect for those long trips. On top of that, serious horse people would love to have the KR's "saddle" like seats to complement their real saddles.

I tend to agree with acbell. I've got a couple of contacts that work here in Louisville at the Kentucky Truck Plant (where they make the super duty trucks). I'll try to probe them for info on some upcoming editions.

well, maybe i've started something here with this f250 kranch, i wonder if they have f250 or f350 kranch trucks at the kranch in texas, as they probably don't pull the horses around with half tons.
