Don't you LOVE it when...
It was funny going back and reading all those posts from 2001 and then getting to your post just yesterday Mike. It did seem like back then ya'll were pretty close. I am in the process of cleaning my Grandpa's 01 KR and to my knowledge he has never applied one oz. of conditioner to them this site has been my "Bible" if you will for the project. I appreciate everything.
KR - one thing I forgot to mention as well was I think for most of us (including me), our KR's were there first pick-up trucks each of us owned.... the funny part was no one really had a need for a pick-up either (except for Daveman).... if it wasn't for the stupid Castano leather & rear bucket seats (pre-2004), I probably wouldn't have bought mine..
So along the way, we had some pretty funny discussions as we learned about "truck ownership".....

So true...Energizer bunny eh? You guys aren't getting that picture of me in the bunny suite. LOL! I do, however, have a bass drum.

And perhaps this brought some entertainment value to those around us, but it was all in fun and I think we "gelled' as a group at the time....
But as time goes, interests vary and it becomes harder and harder to maintain that kinship.... personally, for me, as my son was born and is now in 2nd grade, having a KR in the driveway meant less and less.... to the point now, I'm lucky if I drive it once a week.... logically, I should get rid of it (2002 with 60K on it) but the heart won't let it go.... and thus it sits in the driveway.. (but the seats are still conditioned every other month!)
Anyways.... perhaps this sheds a bit of light..... it gets tougher every year to see new KR owners every year with the same questions we faced 5-6 yrs ago.... the answers are here on F150online but each year the effort to seek out those answers amongst newcomers seems less and less.... (there is a great search function on this site)
Off the soapbox.... You are lucky to have someone like RP though.... the friggin guy is like the energizer bunny of King Ranch F-series........ just keeps going & going....

Thanks for the insight. I guess I missed the King Ranch craze by a few years. I am always late for everything.
No..you didn't miss the "King Ranch" craze.... no matter when you get a KR truck, you'll always feel the same excitement as we did when they first came out.... you want to learn more, learn how your "special" truck can stand out more, etc.....
Look at it this way... it's your "baby" and you are going to do what you please..... hopefully you'll learn from all the *crap* we discussed in previous threads, but nonetheless, you learn and take pride that we indeed have the ultimate "coolest" trucks out there..... (albeit, perhaps not the most usefel..
)

Only 2 months ago with the KR Expy.

Group meet.....
Ha ha ha !!!!!
In the early days Daveman and Sarah (Skagel), both made the long trip down to Kingsville then even further down to the Rio Grande to meet up with me.
Since then I have tried on 3 separate occasions to get something organised but I'm afriad even for the most committed KR owners it has proved impossible to coordinate anything bearing in mind the long distances involved.
I've even offered free beer !!!!
