Question Memory Seats - Help Daveman

I looked at an EB Expedition the other night and they had a memory switch panel for the seats, mirrors, etc. for when you have multiple drivers (my wife hates when I rearrage everthing and it takes her five minutes to put it back).

Since the seat and mirror controls looked like ours, and I know the Expy shares a number of underlying components with the F150s, can this be adapted to work?

Daveman, I thought I read somewhere that you had the electrical diagrams for our trucks. If so, where did you get it and can one be gotten for the Expy too? Then maybe we can compare them and figure out a way to splice into the wires and rig it up to work?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Adam

That'd be NiCe!

Even though my wife refuses to drive, what she calls, my "lux short bus". (*and honestly, I'm glad she doesn't want to...I don't share well when it comes to my KR)

I'd like to have this option though. Keep me posted on what you find out!

Untill then.....

Just tell the significant other to use the pedal adjustment to move the pedals and not the seats. works with my wife and I'm 6'-2" and she's 5'5"

Hey acbell,

Sorry for the delay. I've been busy and have only been searching for posts that I had replied to already and so I didn't see your latest one. I'll start to look tonight and hopefully I can give some details on this mod later tonight or tomorrow.

Later,

DaveMan

Do you have access to a CD-Burner? I would send you a blank CD and pay to have a copy made.

Copies?

Dave,

Any chance you can burn some copies. I'm willing to pay for it and for the shipping!

Hey guys,

Oh ****, out of control!!!!

I don't know what you're talking about. Disc, CD burner, we don't need no stinking discs.

Send me a personal email if you have questions.

Later,

DaveMan

Hey guys,

You know it's funny, I replied to this thread last night and it's gone. I don't think that's ever happened before.

Oh well, I did look through what info I've got and it doesn't look simple at all. The seat motors are different, the mirrors are different because they have heaters and they connect directly to the seat control module. I suspect that the wiring is alot different, there are different connectors, more wires etc.

I don't want to say that it can't be done, it just looks like it's going to be real expensive and possibly would not be reversable. The seat motors have position sensors built-in to indicate final seat position. The position info is feed to a control module under the seat and when the pedals, mirrors and seats are all adjusted, then the memory feature stores the positions where each motor was at last and just returns them to the preset positions upon command.

I think the easiest way to determine if we can do this is to get our hands on a complete expy seat assembly and one from the S' Crew and see what we can come up with. For all we know, the seat frame and mechanisms might be totally different from the two trucks and nothing would be compatible.

Not much help but I to would like to do these mods to my KR if I knew it wouldn't cost too much or didn't require too much modification so as to put it back to stock in case I wanted to sell it later on.

Definitely sounds too difficult. I wouldn't even attempt this, and I am an electrical engineer. I wouldn't ever use it anyway, because it will be a cold day in hell when someone else drives my truck.

Well, that does sound like a lot of work, but would still be interested in finding out more. I'm not planning on selling my new KR baby anytime soon.
