So is the tailgate badge different ?

Are you saying the KR badge on the tailgate IS different from the one on the fender?

I went to my dealer today and 2 different guys said that the badge is ONLY fixed with tape....an earlier posting suggested there were holes for a fixing as well.

One other clarification...I questioned why these badges and other parts seem to be quoted at different prices dealer to dealer.
My parts guy said tell me your best quote and we'll beat it !

What a strange system (but good)....in the UK all main dealer spares prices are regulated to be the same!

Yes, the one on the tailgate is different. I finally found the part number and it is entirely different from the fender badges. Keep in mind that the fender ones are different from each other, too. The part numbers for those differ by one character.

The posts for the tailgate one is what makes it different. You would have had to file off the posts and just use the tape if you got one of the fender ones. With this new number, you can use the posts as well as the tape, which is better anyway. It's much easier to line up, which is especially important for someone as **** about appearance as I am.

Fender badges different ?

I can't for the life of me see how the 2 fender badges are different....They are not "handed" left and right as far as I can see anyway....and I can see my truck from where I am typing this !

Just puzzled....not taking issue!

So much for what Ford tell you !

Despite checking with 2 different bodyshop people at Ford that the rear badge would just peel away with no mounting holes...guess what.
There I am wondering why the old fishing line trick round the back of the badge trick won't work and when I look closely its the spigots on the back of the badge going into predrilled holes stopping the line from passing round the back.
Guess I'll just wait for the KR badge to turn up and hope the mounting holes are the same....fat chance !!!

No, the mounting holes are different. You will have to file them off. That's why I waited to get the new part number.

i finally have it all figured out...the fender badge has different holes then the tailgate badge....you have to order the tailgate KR badge...the fender badge won't work.....found this out the hard way.....i will be turning my extra badge into a hitch cover.......ordered the correct badge....my dealer didn't even have the numbers in his computer, but when he called ford directly they said yes they exist and are for not only the 2002 KR, but will also work on the 2001....strangely, but they are also only $30 as apposed to the $35 for the fender badge....go figure....

Did you see the part number? I posted it earlier in this thread. I also got quoted less than the $30.

So you like my hitch cover idea, huh? I assume you've seen it in my gallery.

Yeah, but I just took a hacksaw to it and filed off the rough edge. It is only plastic after all.

Yeah, it's overkill. It's only a one inch cut. It is not very noticeable. The plastic underneath is not the same color (I believe everything else on the surrounding edge is chrome). It could be painted, but I didn't want to do that, since mostly the only people that will see it is the people behind me at lights.

I'll have a feeling the reason several people have the wrong badge is the tailgates were damaged during shipping or at the dealers lot. Then they were replaced with a tailgate from a non-kr truck.

Different tailgate ?

So are you suggesting that a tailgate is different on a KR from a regular F150 Screw?
