new KR S-crew is here!!

hey guys,

it appears that my new kr is at the dealership! i drove through the lot last night after league bowling and noticed a blue kr sitting in the back of the lot. got out of my truck to check it out. it was exactly what i had ordered. salesman hasn't called yet but i'll probably get the call on thursday. of course i'm antsy so if he doesn't call by 10 am, i guess i'll be calling him. anyway, i ordered the truck on august 30th and it is already here. not bad...not even quite 5 weeks.

it was dark so i couldn't really check out the truck closely, but from what i could see, i'm definitely liking the looks of this truck!

Hey Troy,
Congratualtions, hope you are right. BTW, are you going to able to sleep tonight! That bitch is going to be on your mind all night long.

Sleep tight and happy dreams.

I guess we'll hear from you tomorrow for sure.

took delivery of the new kr friday afternoon, and she is a beaut! i've gotten many compliments already on the colour. it seems ford might now be taking more care when they paint these trucks. i have yet to find a single flaw in the paint job (altho i'm sure there are probably a couple i have yet to see). my xlt was riddled with paint issues. even the front edge of the hood on this truck is nice and smooth. the only things that need tweaking are: 1. the radio doesn't sit quite square in its dash hole, and 2. the pinstripe on the rear passenger door isn't on straight. other than that she seems to be about as perfect as a new truck can be.

couple other observations: tranny is this truck seems to shift between gears quicker and more precisely vs other truck. and the steering feels firmer and there is no power steering pump noise...altho the later may show up after some miles.

daveman,

i'll see if i can get some pix posted. we have a digital camera at work. i'll have to be sneaky!

Hey Troy,

How do you like ridin' your new babe? Hope she talks sweet to ya! Bet she does everything right and hopefully the way you like it?

On a more serious note.

How do you like the rear bench seat, do you think it's really a lot better than the twin buckets?
What kind of tires did you get with your new one?
How's the EATC automatic A/C compared to the manual version?
Does yours have the loose gas cap indicator on the dash?
How about a spare tire lock, was that included on yours as well?
Did you ever post the last part of your VIN on that thread I started, or are you not comfortable doing that?

Bet you can't wait to start taking pictures and gettin' accessories, "A"?

daveman,

truck is a sweet ride so far. back bench is very nice and roomy. it is obviously better for hauling several asses...compared to the buckets. one thing kinda interesting...there is no fold down arm rest like the xlt and lariat benches. auto climate control works very well, been kinda chilly here recently. and i'm really liking the bum warmers!! don't know anything about spare tire lock. so, i guess i didn't get one but will have to look around. i'll also have to look and see about the gas cap light and tires. i know the tires are goodyear wranglers but i'm not sure about the exact model...later.

ps... i have posted some pics. hope to get some better ones later. check out link in my signature area.

daveman,

the tires are wrangler rt/s. i don't know a whole lot about tires, but they seem fine for the open road. my xlt also had rt/s tires but i think they were the extra cost 6 ply tires, if i remember right. anyway, i think the new 17s ride better than those 16s did.

yes, there is now an idiot "gas cap" light in the instrument cluster. the pictoral is of a gas cap and vehicle with the gas cap not seated in the hole...hummm!

as for the spare tire, i just got back from climbing under the truck. i'm not sure how in the hell i'd get that tire down if i needed it. i couldn't really tell for sure how it works to get it down. i guess i'll have to read the directions. i hope i don't have to ever use it since the wheel is steel and not aluminum like the other four.

Hey Troy,

Man, that's a sweet looking ride for sure dude. Like I have said before, I don't think there is such thing as an ugly KR, they all look real good to me.

To remove the spare, open the hood and remove the crank handle by the radiator. There is a hole in the rear bumper and you stick that crank into the hole and turn it CCW. Mine works just the same except '02 trucks are supposed to be fitted with a spare tire lock as standard. I don't have a clue as to how it would work, I just read about it and that it would be standard.

The spare tire lock seems like a good idea, 'cause if someone has a crank, they can just walk up to your truck and take your spare without even asking first.

Again, she looks gooooood. BTW, what's her name, or have you not had time to ask her yet since you been so busy feelin', pokin' and prodin'. I'm sure that babe will never need a bag, "ifin you know what I mean".

hey daveman,

i also like the fact that ford has a locking tailgate. i know tailgates aren't really stolen very often. but hey, all it takes is once to really **** me off...

as for giving "her" a name. i think i'll give her a new one every week, that way the experience will be just slightly different everytime she's mounted!
