Yes A Leather Question

Has anyone ever gotten their seats real wet? The wife and I went to a Kenny Chesney concert lastnight and we got soaked. The seats in my truck got super wet and are still wet today. The leather kind of has a weird wrinkled look to it right now. I am hoping that when it dries they will return to normal. Anyone know from experience?

Mine haven't been as "soaked" as yours, from sitting on them for a period of time while wet, but, they have been pretty wet from some of the "intense" rain showers we've had down here. Just let them dry thoroughly and hit them with KR conditioner. If you prefer, and if your seats are dirty, now would be an ideal time to do the "spa treatment", while they're wet anyway, and then condition. It's just leather, water won't hurt them, as long as they are allowed to dry out, and you replace the moisture that the conditioner gives them. Just be patient, if the foam underneath got soaked as well, it may take a while to dry.

Yes the seats in my '96 got soaked during a torrential downpour while I had the window down and was at work. Now I had treated them well with King Ranch Conditioner. I simply let them dry out well and all was fine. By the way I did not use the heated seat feature until they were thoroughly dry.

Yep went to the concert too, as far as the seats you will be fine in a few days, went with my brother in law to the concert and we were in his 06 Lariat and came out and someone stole the passenger side running board off the truck and had 2 bolts off the driver side.

Man that is freaking nuts. You can't go anywhere these days without someone stealing stuff. Guess I made a good decision parking way out there just so I could be close to the parking dude. He told me he would be there all night. My wife gives me a hard time, but (knock on wood) never had anything stolen yet. As for my seats.....all is good. Just had to sit on a towel for a few days going back and forth to work.

Has anyone ever used seat covers on their KR leather seats? I was looking at the Hatchie Bottom twill seat covers. I hate to do this but I'm getting a dog and I don't want the seats to get ruined. But then again one of the reasons why I love my truck is the interior and I don't want to cover up the best part, the seats. Don't know what to do! Any suggestions on what ya'll have done in the past would be great.

I have a very cheap set of covers in a light brown colour that I bought from wally world.
They can be fitted very quickly especially if you don't worry about all the ties and clips. They pretty much stay where you put them anyway, and I slip them on if I'm leaving the vehicle for servicing etc.
I put them on when I shipped the Expy back to the UK not knowing who would be jumping in and out of the vehicle and the seats survived very well.
Or get a cheapo car/truck for the dog !

Thanks Lenticular for the information. I would take your advice on buying another truck for the dog but my only problems is a I would buy another KR , but I would have to add a F250 to the collection. I wish my pockets were deeper. Thanks again for the info, I'll let you know how it turns out.

I agree, water by itself doesn't hurt leather. That's what you use on it to make it "plastic" for tooling, or "shaping" around things like pistols for holsters and so on.

The dog though, that's a whole different story. Dogs have claws and they scratch big time. How about an old Army blanket for the rear seat? (Assuming that's where Fido rides?) Might take a bit of cleverness to get it to stay up on the seat back if that's necessary, but I'm sure there's a way.

Here in Tucson, lots of dogs ride in the bed and seem to enjoy it. I would not put a dog of mine there, anymore than I'd put my children there, but, some people do it and it all seems to work fine.
