Nav Radio and factory subwoofer HELP

I've posted this question on a couple of the other Head Unit/speaker/subwoofer forums with not much response, so I'm going to give it one last try here amongst KR owners.

In November I purchased an '08 KR with the factory Nav H/U, satellite radio and DVD player, but not audiophile according to the window sticker (No subwoofer). After owning the truck for awhile, I decided I would like to have the factory subwoofer, so I purchased one from a seller off of ebay. Unfortunately, I can't get the subwoofer to work and can't figure why it doesn't work.

I took the truck back to the local Ford dealer (where I purchased the truck) to see if they had to "reprogram" the H/U to work with the factory sub. Their answer was no it doesn't have to be reprogrammed -- the H/U should "see" the subwoofer once it was hooked up. This was confirmed by the Ford stereo gurus (Tech help) in Detroit. I checked the subwoofer plug under the rear seat and it has power (12V). So now I am totally baffled why this subwoofer doesn't work. I guess it could be a bad subwoofer, but what are the chances? The subwoofer is fairly new (came out of an '08 KR), so I can't imagine it's bad. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

press and hold 3 6 while in FM mode and it will take you in to a diag menu where you can see if sub is enabled. Did you get amp? the sub has to have a amp to work?

Yep, I've done that and it says that the sub isn't enabled. Is that because it's not "seeing" the sub, or is there something inside the radio that needs to be turned on? The factory sub comes with the amp already mounted to the sub enclosure.

That feature must be enabled in the radio, its not just plug and play.

Any idea how to do that? I took the truck into the Ford dealership and the tech that checked the radio out said that the radio will detect the sub. Nothing about it needing to be enabled. They even requested help from Ford and the response from the "pros" was the the radio would detect the subwoofer. I'm so confused -- it can't be that hard. I hate it when the so called experts don't even know.

Make sure the plug for the audiophile is plugged in to the back of the radio...... just because you connected the one under the carpet doesn't mean that it is on. I went through the same issue you did...... caution.... be careful not to cut your knuckles.... the frame where the radio is in is very sharp. Let me know how it goes.

Buffy I was like you . I bought one off of ebay because I found the plug under the seat and it had power with the test light but when I plugged it in it didn't work. I pulled out the radio and followed the radio wires back into the dash and found the plug hinding behind a brace in the dash. it was taped to the radio wires with a blank on it . I plugged it in and it works fine.
