There HAS to be something. I have no idea if it is a Ford design though.

Are you saying the radio in your KR does NOT have a CD player? This seems a bit "odd". You have a "top of the line" truck for that model year. CD players had been out for a long time before that!

The radio in the 01 didn't have a in dash cd player. It had a 6 disc cd changer in the bottom of the front console. Open the lid take out the tray and the changer sat to the right side in the bottom. Other than that I replaced mine with an Alpine deck from crutchfield.

Ford's 6 disc in-dash radio did not come out in the F-150 until 2003.

Hey, KRM!

You're exactly right... the in-dash 6-disc version didn't arrive until 03 but, the 01 and 02 had a console-mounted 6-disc cartridge type changer (made by Pioneer, I believe).

If you have a stock radio with the cassette deck, it is likely one that would control the changer. My hunch is that your 01 has been stripped of the changer sometime during it's life.

My suggestion -- upgrade into a aftermarket deck or troll ebay to see if you can snare a changer that is compatible (check for the cord and power supply)... I'm sure they're out there.

Thanks for the info I stepped out on a limb and bought it off ebay. have not actually sen the truck in person yet. And like any other newbie here i can not figure out how to post an image of the radio.

Is it ok to post a link to ebay and you can see all the pictures?

Mine came standard with a 6 disc changer. It was hidden under my center console.
