Question Tires!

My 2005 King Ranch in the near future will be in need of a new set of tires. Instead of going with another set of the OEM tires (but in keeping with the original 18’ OEM rims), I would like to know what my fellow King Ranchers are running on their trucks. Would like the Brand name and tire size you’re currently running on the 18’ OEM rims.

Look into Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos - I have a set on my 2002 KR - great tire, especially in the rain. Lots of reviews at Tire Rack and in the tire forum here.

i got michelin cross terrains from tirerack.com far cheaper than i could have any where around me. i bought some chrome rims. they came mounted and balanced at an excellent price. since that time i have bought cross terrains at costco for another vehicle at a good price. for winter and rain these tires are real good.

While my truck isn't a KR, I'll commented about the Goodyear AT/S Wranglers that I'm running. They are decent in all normal conditions, dry, dirt, rain, snow, but they become very noisy if a wear pattern develops. My alighment was off and before I knew it the tires were really bad.

One tire you may want to look at is Michelin's new LTX AT2. They are FINALLY offering a new light truck tire in their LTX series that actually fits our 18" factory size. As soon as my Goodyears are trashed, I'm buying these. If they are anything like the older LTX AT's, that will be great, as those lasted a good 90K miles or better. And Michelin's ride SMOOTH

Thumbs up

Hey folks! Thank you for all the input so far! Hopefully more folks will chime in. But what was provided so far I plan to research and if I find some other tires of interest I promise to share.

Ditto on the LTX MS or the AT. I have had them on Tahoes Suburbans and for 85K miles on a '02 Super Crew 4 x 4 that I just traded on my new KR....you can't beat 'em...but I hear that the Bridgestone Duelers are close.

I reccomend the BFG Radial All-terrain T/A. I have put them on every truck I have owned and have been very happy with them. They have excellent traction in all conditions and also wear well. They can be a little expensive but are definently worth the money in my opinion.

NO no nononononono. No? I've got a set of these on my F-250, and am about to set fire to them. They're being replaced with Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVOS, just like I had on my F-150, only a few sizes bigger.

F250 Tires

Excuse this post if it doesn't follow proper format - don't post much. I have a 2005 F250 4x4 with factory 18X8 rims. A 325/65 R18 tire will fit without cutting anything in the wheel wells and it doesn't rub under normal driving conditions. The only time (and I stress only) it rubbed was climbing over an 8" concrete curb at full turn left and right at about 10 mph. The rubbing was brief as the tire raised into the well faster than the suspension could retard the movement. I personally run Toyo Open Country A/T, but any A/T tire would fit the bill. Hope this helps.

Since you mentioned Toyo tires let me ask you this. What do you think of the Toyo's? When my time comes with this truck I may put Toyo tires on it. I have heard that they are an excellent tire but I am truly not familiar with them like I am the older established names.

Toyos make one of the best tires available in the at and mt area.

I would reccomend either Toyos or BFG's. I have heard great things about both brands, nitto also has a nice looking tire, but if you go with a MT they can get a bit loud

I have run 2 sets of Toyos in the last few years on a variety of trucks. I am in construction, so I do a fair bit of light duty off road driving and some substantial towing (12,000 lb trailer weight). The Toyos clean out the treads rather well in clay, mud, and black dirt. I run load range D b/c load range E on the 3/4 is a little much - 3000 lb. per tire is more than enough considering the loads and distribution. Anyway, all that to say that I average about 55000 miles on Toyo Open Country A/T. Worth the money.

Have new tires!

Hey Fellow King Ranchers! I decided on my new tires and they are Coopers Zeon LTZ 285/60R/18. So far I like them; they are only sold through Discount Tires for about $170 a piece. Thanks to everyone who took their time to provide comments on this blogg! I can post a couple of pictures if you all would like to see what they look like on a stock King Ranch rims.
