Performance question.....

I have now clocked 2300 miles in the last three weeks. After I got past the 1200~1500 mile mark I started pushing a bit to see how this rig runs. WOT acceleration thru 1st gear is strong but seems to fall on it's face at the 1/2 shift. I notice that 2nd doesn't begin to pull hard untill the engine starts crowding 5000 RPM. I have noticed this also in highway passing situations.

I think I read somewhere that some of the 3V 5.4 motors have a WOT issue that requires a dealer provided ECM flash that takes care of a throttle issue. Has any one else experienced or heard of this?

You sound like a candidate for tuning. You have an '07? It's probably already got the latest PCM s/ware. These trucks are pretty much dogs from the factory. Won't scream, but tuning makes driving much more fun.

I appreciate your thoughts...I can tell that there is a lot more hiding in there.

There is. I run an 87octane tune on mine. Put a Magnaflow on it as well. WAAAAAAYYYY more fun to drive, and it's a Lariat Screw 4x4 so you know it's heavy.

I sold my 05 because it was such a dog and the drive by wire was absolutely terrible. The truck always wanted to downshift under any type of acceleration and gas mileage was horrible. It was terrible towing a trailer, and I ended up trading it in for a new Chevy Trailblazer SS. Now that is a fun vehicle!!!!!!

Nice looking truck.

Pretty much EVERYTHING is faster than our trucks, so big deal. I wouldn't have traded an F150 for the new Blazer or whatever it's called. To each his own.....

Get a tuner, either the Edge or Xcal2, and you will be shocked at what performance is unleashed. My truck would fall on it's face till I had it reflashed at the dealer. That made it drivable, then when I got the Edge, it made it fun to drive.

I do own both, my wife has an 05 Trailblazer and after owning a KR I cant stand to drive hers. The KR has a much nicer ride, will go more places (4x4) and haul a lot more cargo. I towed an enclosed toy hauler from Tx to Fl with the TB before I bought the KR. The TB struggled, my KR has no problem towing

I had a Super Chips programer on my '02 Screw 4 x 4 5.4. It ran pretty good...not as good as 5.3 Chevys but I ran away from a few 3/4 ton Hemis. What was really fun was running away from the other guys on the open road once I passed 100...no limit

I have read much about the Edge and was wondering how it compares to the Super Chips set up. Has anyone done any comprehensive comparison testing among the several players in this business?
