KR Seat Issue

I have tried to get this one panel on my passenger seat to look like the rest of the seat and nothing has worked.

This is a new truck purchased in Jan 07. Shortly after taking delivery this panel started to darken. The only thing I have used on these seats is the KR conditioner. It was applied a few weeks after I got the truck and been reaplied 2 or 3 times.

I tried cleaning with a warm, damp towel. I did this several times. The towel was white and after rubbing there was a small redish/brown tint to the area on the towl. It didn't look like "dirt" was coming up but more like Dye. My Passenger seat doesnt get much use, only the wife and I dont think she had anything on that would have caused a stain or transfer. There is also what seems to be early cracking or stress lines (looks like stretch marks). This is odd because the drivers side does not show this and it gets far more use, especially when I "slide" accross this part getting out of the truck.

I have read the leather care sticky but I'm no leather care expert and wanted to show this picture and get some advice before ruining anything

Thanks
Geoff

This one might be worthy of a warranty claim. It seems that just that one piece is very strange looking, so Ford would have a tough time making the case that you caused this accidentally with a spill or something. I think they need to replace it, personally...

Definitely take it in for a warranty claim - ask them whether the entire rest of the seat prematurely faded or the one seat panel was dyed too dark.

I had an entire rear bucket seat on my 2002 KR replaced under warranty after my kid threw up one day.... no questions asked - but that was back a few years ago... not sure if Ford is that lenient on warranty claims anymore....

Thanks for the input. I was hoping it would lighten up some more, I let it sit in the sun for over an hour and it was hot to the touch. Still just as dark.

I'll be stopping by the dealer this week

Thanks

Geoff

when the seat is hot to the touch like that, have you tried taking a steamed terry towel and passing it on the dark portion of the seat...in attempt to remove some of the dye in the leather?

like just rub back and forth with the hot, damp wrap...and see if some dye come s up with it? it's worth a shot.

of course, afterwards, you'll have to let it dry before you will be able to tell if it worked any.

Yes, see the original post at the top. I did just that and got some dye on the white towel, let it dry for several days but still dark.

With an 05 KR I had the same issue with the dye coming off onto the towels from both of the front seats. I never got an answer as to why. The seats were cleaned conditioned properly. Maybe we both have a section of botched leather...

Ford products always have seat issues with leather ....I had a 68 Cougar with blue leather and the seat covers got replaced twice. The red color which comes with a new KR eventually will turn to brown in the sun....natural thing .....the only reason the back seat stays redish looking is because of the tint windows. Live with it. Its saddle leather .....by the way does anyone know who manufactures the leather covers .....my friend got into mine with a leaky pen in his back pocket...if I can find a new cover I will replace it ..if not I will live with it ........
