Traction Control
Traction Control
Help! I am in the middle of ordering a new KR SCREW and will be getting the Limited Slip Axle Ratio. The sales man said if I get this I don't really need the traction control option as it would be a waist and is redundent. Anyone have an opinion? I don't toe, at least right now and will probably never have a boat behind the truck.
Thanks
Thanks
Ouch! Toe?
Traction control= button that engages a limited slip differential?
Limited slip engages automatically. correct?
Order the back-up sensors. The toggle button is in the same place as the traction control and you will get more use out of it.
If I am wrong in any way then totally disregard this message! The intelligent fellows on this forum will be of much greater help.

traction control helps alot on take off in slippery conditions...like a boat ramp for us down south and driving in snow and ice up north. i dont know about toe-ing..but if you "tow" in the rain you could use it...it has nothing to do with the limited slip diff. it kinda like abs is to braking, traction control is to power to wheels. limited slip will always be active/on it is mechanical...the traction control is electricly controlled to keep the back wheels from spinning when power is applied...i think ford uses speed sensors in front wheels and ones in rear wheels and monitors the speed difference between the two and adjust how much power is allowed to go to the rear wheels...limited slip and non limited slip is...like you have posi traction or one wheel peel.

Definatley get the back up sensor system. I am very sorry I did not get it.
Traction control is great if you live in snow/ice. You will love it when you stop at a red light on an uphill road covered in ice. Green light just mash the pedal and the electronics take care of the rest. All the while the other cars at the light are sliding backwards (personal experience from Pennsylvania).
Limited slip is OK. My truck came with it. Cons - it is not as effective as a locker (i.e., it will not lock up sending equal power to each wheel) and it will wear out. For everyday driving a very light offroading a limited slip is fine.
