Wood Steering Wheel?

As I'm already losing the battle on keeping the Castano pristine on my steering wheel, was thinking about how a wood steering wheel might look, and who might sell them? Looking for something that would have a matching grain to the rest of the dash trim and be a wood/leather combo, i.e. wood where the Castano is now. Has any one researched or done something similar?

Not sure about fitment but, the KR Expy has a leather/fakewood (fwood)wheel. Might see if you can dredge up a pic to see if you're interested. not sure about radio/cruise functionality cross-overs.

It's leather on the sides with fwood for top and bottom portions... That way you could have the best of both worlds.

Thanks, the KR Expy steering wheel looks like exactly what I'm after, but don't think it will fit my Superduty. I've found a few, but some appear to be for the Old F150 style, which shared the wheel with the Superduty and the wood doesn't appear to match.

If it helps Brad, here's the Expy.

Thanks RollingRock, I also came across www.stwheel.com, and have a message in to them to see what they may have.

I've thought about this mod, as well. Frankly, I'm a little scared to do it myself because of the airbag and the electrical. But, here's some pics of a KR that did it. Looks great!

The remote on the shifter is for the Ipod mounted in the center console. Pretty cool.

Larryp--

I got the pictures from a webshots album, and I've just now tried to make contact through their system. I'll let you know if I hear from him ASAP.

You should see his other mods.

NICE Rig!

Jeb.

Rollingrock, Larryp, Plunds01, et al...SUCCESS!

I made contact with the guy who did the steering wheel mod, and he was very helpful. He purchased the "core" from Alliance Technology at www.stwheel.com.

Their website lists the steering wheel as "oxford burl and med. parchment leather"--$339. They say something about sending in the original steering wheel for a discount or a small rebate, too.

Surprised it's that much, but it is beautiful.

If anyone takes the plunge on it, keep us all posted!!
