KR's in the OBX
KR's in the OBX
I was down in hatteras last week and riding around i saw more KRs in the week that i was there than i have ever. got to wondering what the wet bathing suits do to the leather. my KR stayed home in the driveway and i took my other truck that has the shiny painted kinda leather. i think a week of the kids in and out of the KR the seats would look like dried up squid. probably smell just as bad. so if any of you were there, what do the seats look like now?
that's pretty funny - i was just down in Southern Shores last week and thought the exact same thing. I too took a different truck as well, but had the same question. I was going to stop someone to ask, but didn't get the chance.
I guess they either cover the seats in towels or use some kind of cover?

i used the search feature and to my amazement i found a thread with a question that i asked a few years ago. that was after a vacation trip down to rodanthe and avon. now fast forward to present and i find my self living in florida near the beach. the seats in my truck are as good as the day i bought it. now i am wondering again what they will look like after wet suits hit them. any answers? i have worked hard at never getting the seats wet. i have not seen that many of them around here to even look and see what they look like or to ask someone. up until now my wifes vehicle with normal leather has been our go to the beach vehicle. that goes back off lease in a couple weeks and the king ranch will be it.
so my question is how trashed will they get????????????

They CAN "water spot", but that should go away if you simply apply the "spa treatment" to uniformly dampen the seats. The BIG problem is if the leather is wet and the kids kind of "squirm around" on the seats, it will damage the finish, just as hard scrubbing during cleaning can do.
I honestly think the best thing is to force everyone to change to dry clothing.
The other thing that's not good for the leather is skin oil, which WILL turn the leather black (as you've noticed happens to your steering wheel). So, shorts and bare legs sticking out of swim suits are not a real good idea either.
