Center Shifter Handle Replacement

I love the interior of my 2006 KR F150, but can't believe how cheap the handle is on the center shifter. It's all plastic. Has anybody found a distributor that might sell a leather wrapped and specially topped KR shifter to replace the cheap plastic @#$% from Ford?

Try the guy on eBay that does the custom leather handles for the King Ranch. Just do a search on eBay he is easy to find. He did some handles for me to fit my 02 so if you give him the dimensions he could probably help you out here. Hope it helps...Mike

The Harley Davidson actually features a leather wrapped shifter... unfortunately though, I haven't seen one that would look 'right' in the KR. I think a lot of us would be exceedingly interested in seeing what someone could come up with for this eyesore.

I went to the Tandy Leather store and had the manager come and look at my shifter to see if he had any suggestions. He sold me a strip of leather that was pretty close to the Castano. He then suggested making template to cut the leather, then showed me how to stich it. After my 3rd try I quit. If there was a easy way to remove (slide up) the shifter it would be pretty easy, but I was afraid to mess with the lever trigger. The trigger appears to pull out and has a screw holding it together but I just knew if I removed the screw it would possibly release a spring and there I'd sit. Maybe you are a better leather seamstress than me. Good Luck.

You may try searching on this one -- I know that there have been some guys in the 04-06 forum who have successfully transplanted the shifter handle and thus, have removed it. I just tried a real quick glance but came up with far too many threads to really sift through... I know it's been done and that it can be done.
