KR SuperCab?

I noticed that now on the 2004+ models of King Ranch F-150s, they are only available in a SuperCrew. Why can't you get a SuperCab King Ranch? I prefer that because the bed is too short on the SCrews.

The 2006 has the option for a 6.5' bed I believe...

2005 and 2006 were the only two years for the KR -- and, at this moment, no Supercab. Further, my last source at FoMoCo says that it's not in the works either -- but, then again, to put it in the works would take about 2 seconds of someone's day... wouldn't be that big of a deal if you really think about it.

King Ranch SuperCab

JohnBoy88,

RP is right about the 6.5' bed that is available on the 2006 F-150 SuperCrew models. IMHO this makes a SuperCrew usable! The only reason that I bought my 2002 KR SuperCab was because of the ridiculously small bed on a SuperCrew.

As far as I know, the SuperCab was available in 2001. I know it was available in 2002 as I have one of those and in 2003 with a StepSide bed optional. No SuperCab since then.

This is funny.

I use my Supercrew everyday.

I wish someone would have told me I couldn't use it, before I bought it....or something like that.

Me thinks that you take my words too seriously

What I was saying is that compared to a full size truck bed, the short bed on a SuperCrew just doesn't measure up. It is certainly usable but, I am sure that there are times that you wish that you had a full size bed. The `06 SuperCrew with a 6.5' bed is the answer for everyone that needs a SuperCrew cab and a full size bed!

I know what you mean..and silly me I drive and use mine everyday, hmm wonder if the 100k miles I have on my for show not for use only truck is wrong?. I have yet to find something I couldn't haul that i needed to. Yes if I was building something and needed something longer than 5.5ft then yes maybe I would have an issue.

One thing about the KR SCrew bed is that is seriously deep (one short guy here once claimed he sold his KR because he couldn't reach into it!). Thus, the total volume is at least on par with most truck beds. If you have something really long to haul, you can always drop the gate.

Now, having said that, if I was sure I could comfortably get the 6.5 in my garage, I'd take that over the 5.5 for sure.

As for the lack of a KR SCab, I think it's a concern for "devaluating the brand." They like to show that roomy interior off. Cramming in two rows of seats into a small area, where passengers might become uncomfortable and complain, wouldn't do at all for what Ford marketing is trying to achieve with the KR.

Did anyone see CNN clips of the Detroit Auto Show? On CNN International, every time they did a spot, there was a KR spinning around in the background!

I agree with your assessment. I think the KR edition is meant as a show piece for Ford, and they wouldn't want anything to "cramp" its style. Personally, I don't see Ford coming out with anything less than a crew cab for their premiere model.

The longer bed is a smart option for those that use their truck differently than most of us, maybe they have a need to haul lumber or fence posts for example. (Me, I use my 99 F150 for those duties.)

I think I would have trouble putting the longer bed in my garage, but if the KR I bought had come with a longer bed, I wouldn't have turned away from buying it.
