Anyone replace their KR exaust?

Has anyone swapped out their OEM exaust? I am trying to decide what to do on my 02. I want something with a lot more noise then the factory set up but arent sure if I should simply replace the muffler of the entire system. Any thought would be great!

While I didn't change it on my 01, I have changed on my 05'. I installed a SISO (single in, single out) Magnaflow.

It's perfect for what I wanted. In short, I wanted a 'grumble' but wanted it to sound 'angry' when I really got on the pedal. Lots of folks here have the Maggie setup and love it...

You should change the entire system, catback. I've changed mine twice. My latest change was to a DIDO Magnaflow catback system meant for the harley edition, but with a few more pipes it will fit perfectly on any 01-03 supercrew. The noise is nice on it, not too loud, but it sounds like a V8 now. This system allowed me to remove the y-pipe entirely, and I replaced everything basically from the rear O2 sensors back.

If you search on the forums for some topics on the restrictive factory y-pipe you will see why you should be replacing it with something else as well.

Where in Cleveland are you? I will actually be moving to MI January 14 and I'll be going right through Cleveland on my way to Grand Rapids. If you're interested in seeing some of the things I've done that you're interested in doing, I could stop on my way through and you can take a gander. I have a 2001 2wd Charcoal Blue KR.

I just realized you may have an extended cab rather than a supercrew. Is that the case? There are still a fair number of Magnaflow systems for the supercab, and I'm not even sure that they are any different than the supercrews, but it's a possibility.

The 14th I will actually be in DC. My job keeps me traveling almost every week, however I truly appericate the offer. Next time you are passing through I would really enjoy the oppurtunity to see some of your mods.

I do have the extended cab, I read numerous posts on switching the entire system, however I am having trouble realizing the benefit when compared to the intial cost. From what I can find it around $800 give or take a few hundred to build from the cat back. Is that really worth it?

Hey there, I have an '02 SuperCab that I changed out exhaust to the Gibson SweptSide SISO set-up. I like the sound, a little louder than stock at idle, but you can tell it's there when you step on it. The stock muffler is SOOO restrictive, anything you do will make a difference. I think I paid around $300 for mine, and put it on myself. There are alot of systems that you have to move the spare tire, (on 4X4 trucks), with the dual outlets. Good luck

So you only put on a new muffler? What sort of differences short of the sound did you notice?

I have with a Magnaflow Turboback with a 4" downpipe and a 5" tip. Sound wise, you can barely tell that that I have a aftermarket exaust.

I've got a Magnaflow muffler with a custom stainless system from the cat back. Cost me $250 installed. Had it for almost three years and love it. Have had no issues. I have an '03 KR 4x4, Charcoal Blue BTW.

The catback systems can be found for less than $500. I think I submitted an offer for around $300 or $400 and it was accepted. There are online stores who will take best offers and you might be surprised at what they will take.

Can you point me in the direction of one of theses stores. Did you install the catback yourself? What do you think about dual straight pipes?
