Go Rhino Grille Guard Installed (Updated)

Finally "made" the time to install my Father's Day gift from my daughters - the Sumatra 3000 Grille Guard from Go Rhino.

It has a practical use up here in Northern California as just outside the country club where I reside (come on - no snob jokes, alright?) is the worst stretch of roadway for DEER KILLS in the West. It's not IF you hit a deer but when; so I'm hoping that this guard will absorb most of the impact and keep whatever damage to my KR to a minimum. Besides I think it looks good. Next are a couple of high power lights - thinking of trying that FORD Taurus fog switch setup if I can find one of those units.

9/6 - Last week my new Hella 500 Driving Lights arrived. Now waiting for the switch - - it's a FORD OEM Off Road Light Switch. Now where to mount it. Additional pics once installed.

Those can save your truck. It depends on how fast your going and the angle you strike the deer of course. I have one on my baby. I hit a deer going almost 60 if I had hit it dead center wouldn't have been any damage to the truck. Unfortunately I hit it on the drivers side, it did about $1200 damage mainly becuase when I made contact the left arm flexed back it put a small dent in the fender. THe body shop I took it too told me of another KR that had been in after hitting a deer with out a guard and it had about over $7000 in damage too it. So if there is a chance that you may hit a deer I highly recommend getting one.

Driving Lamps Installed

After way too long of a delay I finally found time to install the Hella driving lamps. Installation was not that difficult but with the temperature not getting above 40 degrees, it took a bit longer than I planned for. All exposed wiring was covered using 1/4" loom and the switch placement turned out to be the easiest part of the entire installation. Went with the supplied switch as the one I purchased turned out to be just too large for dash placement (and it is not too bright at night so no need to install a 47 ohm resistor on the ground wire - yet). Now just need to do the final alignment of the lamps. All in all it turned out to be a nice mod to my KR. Now if the deer will just (continue to) avoid my truck !!!!!!
