Free stuff with my new '05 KR???
Hi there,
Just drove home with my new '05 King Ranch and loving it!
However, I just logged on to this website and read about leather portfolios and leather cleaning kits. Should I have received these??? I didn't receive anything with my new truck!
Please let me know if there is anything I should return and ask for...
Thanks!!

When Ford first made the agreement with the King Ranch to produce the "King Ranch" truck I believe it was all perhaps a bit of a novelty that neither party was convinced would succeed.
We're talking about several years ago now when the idea of a truck with a luxurious interior went against the (Leather) grain. (Ouch!!)
Anyway I was certainly one of the first to buy a KR and I remember the dealership being 'over the moon' about it when it first came in. They hadn't seen anything like it.
Anyhow about a week after I took delivery of the truck there was a knock on the door one evening and Fedex or UPS (Can't remember which) handed me a heavy package.
I didn't know what it was, but was delighted to find inside a tin of KR leather conditioner and a superb portfolio, smelling and feeling just like the leather in the truck.
I didn't know whether I would use it or not, but in fact it's now back at my home in the UK still in it's box, unused! (I know...what a waste!)
Having then joined this forum I found that most people who bought KR's were receiving the same package, though some were getting the planner (Sort of Filofax)
You should have heard the yowls from those that didn't get anything !
However a contact at Ford remedied the situation for most people.
Anyway I'm afraid this bonus only lasted a year or so, and then I presume with the great success of the KR branding Ford decided enough was enough and stopped giving away what was worth around $150.00.
If you check E Bay they still turn up occasionally or of course you can get them direct from the saddle shop at Kingsville.

I think there's just a check book cover on EBay right now...

...but it's worth checking every week as they do turn up.
In fact I recently got the planner...also still in it's box unused!!
Hope this helps....though I know it's no consolation that you don't get the goodies anymore.
I actually think that it would be a good marketing ploy for a company like Ford to still offer something like that perhaps on the top end model of a range.
It might be the small incentive that would push someone to up their model choice. (Just one of those psychological things....and as a percentage of the profit on each truck would be small fry)
