Stiff Seat Question

I want to purchase the KR, but my wife thought the seats were extremely stiff and unlikely to be comfortable on a long drive.
Can anyone give me some personal experience quotes to win her over?

taboo...

It's all in an opinon and it's always tough to sell something to someone who is, potentially, set in their thought.

My personal opinion is that these seats are actually MORE comfortable than that of a Lariat or an XLT. Again though, that's an opinon (and I have spent ample time in both the Lariat and XLT).

The KR leather will stretch a bit based on use.

I've always thought that the leather in our trucks was actually more supple and soft versus that of a Lariat (which has 'coated' leather seats). The padding, to my knowledge, may be a bit different in the KR seats because of the aforementioned stretch factor. I know for a fact that the foam was more resiliant in my old KR than that of a regular Lariat (2001).

I know I'm just rambling but, I think it's all in an opinon. We all, obviously, LOVE our trucks. We take great pride in keeping the interiors in tip-top shape and, speaking from a personal stance here, most of us couldn't think of owning anything else. I'm on KR #2.

We just took the family (wife and two kids) on a short 2 hour trip (each way) on Saturday. I sat in the back so I could watch a movie with my daughter, my wife was in the passenger seat and my son drove. My wife commented when we got home how comfortable the ride was. I think RockPick is right, you actually have so much support (which you might call 'firm' at first) that you come to appreciate how they feel the longer you sit in them. The only problem I have is the angle of the back seat (which is the same for all F150's) - it's to vertical. But at least I got to use my DVD!

I regularly drove my KR between Houston and the Rio Grande Valley....a non stop 7 hour drive ...... and the seats never gave the least cause for concern. (And I have a back that soon knows if something is not right)

As RP says the seats are very supportive and shaped just right for comfortable travel.

I drove 11 1/2 hours from Temple, TX to Red Rivr, NM last month on a ski trip, three full sized men in the truck, and everyone commented how comfortable they were and how much room they had. i drove 12 hours straight through the night and never had a stitch of back pain

long drive

I drove my 01 KR from northeast Oklahoma to Toronto, Canada and back which is 18hours or 1200 miles one way. It was the most comfortable drive I had ever had.

Thank you all for the quick replies. We often drive between SoCal and NM. Your replies were enough to convince my wife. Now I just need to find or order the one I want.

You will not regret it. Just make sure you get EXACTLY what you want, even if it means waiting 6-7 weeks. What color are you thinking about? We had a color vote sticky a while back where RockPick had nice pictures of all the choices. Just do a search and you will find it.

Good Luck!

I guess you don't need my opinion, since you've already decided on a KR, but, if my body is "comfortable" in my '02 KR, you can rest assured that the truck is comfortable. Back in 1983, I flipped a truck end over end, and rolled it a few times, and pretty much broke everything from my knees up, including my back in 5 places and my neck in three. More details later

My wife and I both agree on the Dark Copper. Dark Stone would be my second choice.

Found one exactly the way we want it, but the dealer does not seem to want to deal. Looks like I will be ordering it elsewhere

Thanks for all your helpful experiences. I will be monitoring the site from now on, and probably have lots of questions.

Not knocking the King Ranch, I love the thing, but the seats are a PITA to me. On longer trips my butt does start to get a little sore. Now, that being said, most cars do this to me. The King Ranch just does it faster. My wife has no problems with it whatsoever, and since it's her truck.......

We've been on a couple camping trips lately towing with it, wich is about 2 hours each way. By the time we get there I'm ready to stretch and walk around a bit.

My butt falls asleep after a few hours behind the wheel too! But I don't mind so much since it is caressed in leather and if I need to "liven it up" I just hit the heater button for a minute or two and the blood gets a moving again.

Chalk it up to being a mature King Ranch driver (at least I get to order off the senior menu to save a few bucks that go towards GAS).
