keypad

I just took my n2001 k/r into my body shop to have
some deep stracthes taken out of the key pad. The key pad is a completely different paint color, It is much darker. My truck which is the gray blue. (sorry cant recall the name of the color but it was a new unique color for the 2001 kr). The body shop told me that it may of been a production error in color and should be the same color as the rest of the paint. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Mike, Thanks for your response. I am talking about the surround.
However before I took it to the shop it was produced in a different color. The shop told me it should be the same color as the rest of the door. If I understand what you saying they are Right.

A Ford dealership paint and body shop, although sometimes a separate entity, is bound by Ford quality standards. If the original paint code for the surround did not match the rest of the door, the shop is obligated to make it right by color matching the existing paint. A very simple process. There are no excuses.

If on the other hand, you took your Ford to an independant body shop, there are no such standards. Most quality independant shops will color match first, just to save time, but again, the standard is that of the shop and not dictated by a manufacturer.
