The harness is not the same. You need the power folding mirror module [PFFM] and appropriate wiring. The King Ranch has this feature and the necessary wiring. Check the 12/16 post on the 2004-05 board by yob2kanobe - he posted the wiring schematics for the PFM option and the nonPFM mirrors. I'm going to get this done on my XLT one way or another and when I do I let you guys know.

Help needed desperately!

I am trying to put Power Folding Mirrors on a Lariat with a lot of difficulty. On the KR they are standard.

I have been to a couple of dealers trying to locate the Power Folding Mirror Module for the folding mirrors. The dealers do not have a clue what part number it is - possibly because the vehicle is new this year. The dealers will put a request into Ford for the part number but they need a VIN number to place the request. The VIN number assists FORD in locating all parts on the car, etc. What I need is a VIN number for a 2005 F150 King Ranch so that I can get the part number. My Lariat VIN is useless for the request as it does not have Power Folding Mirror.

I have a request into my Sales person to see if he can get me a VIN. If not i will try to find one on a lot somewhere. If I can't locate any KR is anyone willing to share their VIN number? My email address in case you don't want to post it is bsm2001@yahoo.com. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Grab a pencil and piece of paper, walk out on the dealer lot and find a KR with the mirrors you want. Write down the VIN number. Walk back in to the parts department and give them the VIN number.

So...bsm, am I correct in assuming that the PFM will not work with my 2005 FX4, due to the wiring harness not being the same?

This really blows, I was hoping it would be an easy mod.

You have the right resource with bsm2001. He and I worked the PFM installation out for my 2004 XLT and his truck. bsm really did all the work. I had my local sound system installer do the job working off of bsm's electrical schematics. The Ford dealers around here couldn't/wouldn't do it. Some where on this forum all this stuff should be archived. If bsm doesn't still have it try the forum moderator - I think it's still RockPick. My PFMs are working great.

Power FOLDING or Not?

I am looking at buying a 2007 F-150 King Ranch. I found one that has as an added option (for $125) the following mirrors: PWR/HEAT/SIG MAN TEL/FOLD MIRR (no p/n provided). My question is this: Does this mean the standard FOLDING mirrors have been removed and replaced with a telescopic version (for towing) and the power FOLDING option is now gone? No one at the dealer could tell me if these "optional" mirrors still have the power FOLD feature. Common sence would tell me who would remove a standard feature (which only comes on the KR) and replace it with a manual feature and then charge $125 as an option. Now I can see if the power FOLDING mirrors retain all their features and for $125 you add a manual telescopic feature ... but then I've seen some dumb things from the designers. Can anyone clear this up for me?

How about it someone at the dealership where the truck is goes out to the truck and sees if the mirrors will fold by activating a switch?

Yes, they fold.

I seem to recall someone mentioning that the telescopic tow mirrors would be available on the 07' F-150s (late builds) but, I don't know if they're power fold.

It obviously lists them as 'fold' but, the PWR description doesn't really help as to if all of those items are power or if one or another is power...

Sorry I can't help here.... if you do find out, let the rest of us know on how they work.

Power Fold Mirrors

It's funny, the PFM are probably my favorite option on my truck. Helps for getting both trucks on the driveway side-by-side and for public parking lots.

More Info IBCOP

I see that IBCOP responded to my question that yes the mirrors fold, and I appreciate the feedback, however my original question is still not answered. Do the telescopic mirrors POWER fold, or just manual fold?

Well, I answered my own question when my new 2007 KR hit the dealer lot: The upgraded tow mirrors (that cost an additional $125) DO NOT power fold. Watch out for this option guys. The telescope and fold features are both MANUAL. I made the dealer find me another KR with the standard power folding mirrors. Only the F-250KR has the power fold and power telescope feature.
