2005+ Color-Keyed Bedliner?

Anyone have any word on Ford making a color-keyed bedliner like they did back in 2001+ for the AZ Beige Trim?

Something like that...

It seems to me like they probably wouldn't considering how quickly they scraped the whole 'KR-specific' accessory line back in 02 (aka: the KR tonneau etc) but, with them seemingly ramping up production of more 'KR' based vehicles (Expy, F-150/250/350), there may be enough interest.

I know I sure love the way mine looks in my 01...

Does this mean you already bought the 05 KR? If not I know it's in the works and you are just checking out the new mods. Good luck. I am just jealous. But in a good way.

Nupe. I don't have it... yet. It's still driving me batty but, there are so many other factors that I have to play into the mix prior to me making a decision of this nature.

In short, there's a chance I may be making a lateral career change in the immediate future and will have to relocate. With that in mind, I'm not sure I want to put all of that credit out there when it could be utilized for items for, yet another, new house if necessary.

Everything is very preliminary right now and thus, I keep trying to coax myself to wait just a little bit longer so that I can get a better feel on my situation. All the while, this Black KR that I've fallen head over heels in love with is sitting on a lonely Ford lot... Poor thing. It needs a good home...

Good luck with all the decisions. Keep us posted. And somehow I never pictured you as a black truck owner. But if anyone can take care of one properly it would you.

Well, honestly, I hadn't really considered it either until I saw the 2003 KR that was available in Black. I've only actually seen one or two in person ever and, both times that I can immediately recall seeing them, I remember being envious. The black just looked fantastic to me -- yes, better than Chestnut (forgive me Chestnutters for I have sinned).

I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't a bit reluctant though. Black is a bEaSt and, as hard as I have tried, I haven't been near perfection on my dark colored Chestnut. Decisions... Decisions...

.... maybe.

Rockpick -

As big a fan of the Chestnut color as I am, I too like the black. That Black color with the Arizona Beige accent combined with the color of those King Ranch leather seats is a stunning combination. If I were to buy a new KR, it would most likely be a black one, in part because the Chestnut color is not available for 05 and in part because I'm not thrilled with the 05 colors.

If my will power holds firm, I won't have to make that decision; however ...

I agree Chestnut. I'm not that thrilled with the color offerings for the 2005 but, none the less, I am content. Black, however, is at the top of my list on colors...

Just a personal opinion here but, not making the KR colors 'unique' really detracts from the special edition uniquness. Like you, I think the black, az beige, and castano really looks KILLER together...

I have a 2003 Black KR and wouldn't have any other color on the planet. You won't go wrong with black!

On a different note, I'm getting very frustrated with my truck. I've had it in the shop on 3 occasions trying to get a "popping" noise (while turning) fixed among some other small things. It was finally determined that the rear leaf springs needed to be replaced. They did this this week and I got my truck back yesterday. The "popping" noise has now gone to a LOUD "clunk". It's like something is in a bind, then breaking free when I turn? I don't have a clue what it is. Also, there's now a vibration when coming to a stop and also after letting off the gas pedal on the interstate (70+ mph). This is really getting old. Anyone had similar problems?

RP, you know you want that black KR, just get it. I mean, it's just money right??

Brad....Pleeeease.....Pleeeeease....

DON'T GET BLACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll regret it.

Especially doing all that rock stuff and getting to the places you get to.

Your truck will ALWAYS appear dirty especially to a critical eye like yours.

I don't know if you've had black vehicles before.

I know I have and I always regret it.

Every little mark shows....the paint is full of swirl marks after about a week....and you'll want to wash it every day.
(Which might be fun for the first couple of weeks...but after that ?!)

Just MHO, but you know I'm right !!

Hi Mike....

Long story but I did get a quite legal X Plan pin, even though I'm really not entitled via the usual routes !

However as I understand it even X Plan will not necessarily prove the best deal so we will wait and see.

I think I mentioned previously that my usual dealer has allowed me to put in an order to my spec. for the first KR Expy they will have. (Estate Green over Pueblo Gold).

I will be back in the States mid Feb until end of April so I'm hoping it comes in during that time frame.
I'm still not convinced I will change as I really like the Lariat with it's all over Arizona Beige finish......and as it's only done 8000 miles it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to change yet.

The power fold third row of seats might be the clincher though as will the slightly shorter overall length making it easier to fit in the garage.

Anyway on Sunday I'm off to South West Ireland for a while....not the best time of year to go sightseeing (Really spectacular coastline), but as the area around Cork and Kinsale is renowned for its bars and resaurants...who cares !!!

Thus as I will probably be alcoholically challenged I won't even take my laptop, so I'll surface again in a couple of weeks.

Thumbs up

Bigcat I have to say, I remember seeing a pic of your KR previously and I really think it is awesome looking. It has just the right amount of mods, not overdone. What size rims/tires are those and how much lift did you have to do to accommodate them? I am curious because I have thought about doing the same thing you have. My one concern is I pull a travel trailer and already have a huge drop bar on the KR. Also, would the lift make a difference in my tow capacity, or at least the tongue weight capacity? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Again, I love the look of your truck.
