YES, I am exploring this option to buy a truck. I have no intentions on talking about a KR Super Duty as that really isn't an option at this point in time.

Went to take my truck back to the dealer yesterday, and saw the Dark Copper F-250 KR SuperDuty. Thought it was gorgeous, but only one thing wrong with it....it wasn't BLACK!

One fine truck my friend. Can't wait to do some things to mine, but that's hard to do when it's been in the shop so much!!

Remember...when it comes to buying new trucks, money is no object, unless you make it one...then, well it sucks don't it?

Bigcat I have to say, I remember seeing a pic of your KR previously and I really think it is awesome looking. It has just the right amount of mods, not overdone. What size rims/tires are those and how much lift did you have to do to accommodate them? I am curious because I have thought about doing the same thing you have. My one concern is I pull a travel trailer and already have a huge drop bar on the KR. Also, would the lift make a difference in my tow capacity, or at least the tongue weight capacity? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Again, I love the look of your truck.

IL6fan,

I have 16x10 rims and 315/75/16 (35/12.5) with a 3" body lift and a full torsion bar crank (no scrubbing). The great thing about a body lift (besides being cheap) is it doesn't raise the frame at all. My trailer hitch is in the exact same place as before I lifted it. I had the stock "hidden" hitch from ford so all the body lift did is expose the horizontal bar that was previously hidden. Tow capacity is not affected at all with a body lift. They only thing to be careful about is to not put a really heavy load in the bed since the bed is lifted with 3" block tbe weight is distibuted on the blocks insted of the frame rails as before. I wouldn't really worry with that unless you have to haul 4000 lbs of concrete. The only real negatives I have about my body lift is the frame rails where the tow hooks attach are a lot more visible. I took the tow hooks off to clean up the look and it made a huge difference. Also make sure you get gap guards with a body lift. They make all the difference in the world as far as looks go.

One thing to consider when getting bigger tires is how they affect torque and acceleration. If you tow anything heavy I would definitely recommend regearing. Before I put the big tires on I could smoke the tires. Now I can make them bark on a turn but there is no way a burnout is even possible without a regearing (which is good since the tires cost 200 a piece)

Lenny...

I understand. I do, sincerely, understand. But, this is something that I'm pretty sure I'm going to do. At this point in time, I'm just about sold.

Understood Brad.....I know how you look after your vehicles so I expect it will always look smart !!

Mackie....I saw one of the first KR's in the new Stone color and was disappointed.
However I saw it on rather a dull day...unusual for South Texas...when I saw the pics the webmaster posted taken in bright light it looked much better !!!

I think it will look quite classy and discreet when kept well polished but if allowed to get dirty would think it will not show well !

Just MNSHO !

I like Black too. But, wife has a 2004 Thunderbird in Black with Tan soft top and tan interior.

One Black vehicle in family was enough.

The Aspen Green KR was my next choice. I really liked the 2001 Chesnut KR combo I traded in, just needed a change.

Black is fine but I took Copper

My color choice was either dark shale or dark copper when I did the initial build on the Ford web site. I have owned several black vehicles before and although I have all the equipment to keep it up, I really don't have the time. Black looks stunning, hands down but only stays that way a day or two before it starts to look dirty, especially so if it is left outside over night as mine is.

BTW...the dark copper for 05 (so I am told) IS EXCLUSIVE to the KR.

I chose the dark copper because I thought it would hold good looks for more than a couple days and so far I am right, but to be honest, I've only had my KR four days.

I would have purchased the AZ bedliner in a heartbeat if there were one available but I ordered a bedrug and flush black tonneau instead.

Black is definately a booger to keep looking good. I'm up to the challenge though! (I might hate myself for it later but, I'm willing to give it a stab)...

I didn't spend the better portion of a week out in Irvine, CA at Meguiar's home office for nothing! Time to put the training to work in a place other than meguiarsonline.com.
