Looking at buying an 03 KR.....
Looking at buying an 03 KR.....
Its a Supercab Flareside. What are the plusses to this year? Is this combo rare? I have not seen many.
It only has a 4.6 v8? Will this be enough to tow 5000-6000lbs every once in a while? I want to tow an open car trailer with my thunderbird sc (4000lbs).
Leather.... I use Leatherique. Would it be good to use on the seats?
Price is at $25,800 w/ 30k miles. Does this seem fair?
Thanks!!
Chris

Your looking at the right truck, but remember, everyone in this forum is bias towards the KR badge.
The price seems fair, per Kelly and Bluebook.
The 4.6 pulled my open trailer/car on my 01 Expy when I had it, so this should be be a walk in the park.
I do not know the numbers, but they did not make as many SCabs, as they did Screws of the KR.
Sounds like a nice truck. Good Luck if you get it.

First and foremost, welcome to f150online.com! We're certainly glad to have you aboard here!
Not sure I can offer any 'plusses' specific to the Supercab Flairside but, on the flip side of that coin, I can't offer any cons either. There really aren't many of them around with the KR package. Personally, I can count the number that I've seen on one hand (and two were on a dealership lot locally).
I think the 4.6 will be plenty of engine for you on an occasional pull. It's a solid engine and has had few problems. You might search the engine forum for a few more opinions as well.
Leatherique, I hear, is pretty good stuff. Just about everyone here has a 'flavor' of conditioner that they like the best so, you're really going to have to experiment with a few and decide what works the best for you. Lexol, Fiebings 3-way, Leathermaster, King Ranch Conditioner, and Connolley are just a couple of names that you'll hear frequently within these walls.
The price seems about right but, I'd work on it a bit to see if you can get it down. The lots, I think, will be starting to get a tad more saturated with 'late-model' F-150s like the one that you've described because of the new body style that has come out. Further, the 2005 King Ranch is set to be in the hands of new owners by around October or November as we're hearing it and thus, I think that might draw a few more to the used lots too.
If I were you, I'd insist that the dealership get you the name and number of the former owner. Pending they didn't get the vehicle at auction, they can probably pull that off for you (although some hate doing it -- Kentucky has a law that it has to be disclosed -- your state may vary). Ask the former owner about any problems/warranty issues that he/she may have had. In general, just get a feel for the truck.
The choice is yours. If you're in love with the truck, I'd say go for it. I really don't think you'd regret it (especially with 6K worth of warranty where you can get the items fixed that may be bothersome).

You can go to www.edmunds.com or www.kbb.com (kelly blue book) to get price quotes and ratings. But since you're in the market for a king ranch, I just posted mine in the classifieds I'll take some pics tomorrow and put on a website.
