steering wheel hosed...help

Help, I used Lexol on my 2001 King Ranch steering wheel and it took the shiny smooth coat off, now I have a suede like feel to the wheel. Is there anything that can be done? Thanks

I take it you mean you used the LExol cleaner on your steering wheel? We have all found this to be a bad product to use. Not sure there is anything you can do to fix it short of conditioning it.

Unfortunately, it sounds like another Lexol pH Balanced Cleaner incident. Exactly the same thing happend to both dufunnel and myself. The LEXOL conditioner is GREAT stuff and I recently bought two more bottles of it (Pep Boys has it 2-spray bottles for $10!! right now).

I'm sorry to tell you that I found nothing that would remedy the problem.

Sorry to hear it. For different reasons, I had the same thing happen to the steering wheel and to the center console. It was all downhill from there. I finally had to have them replaced by the dealer. Fortunately they did it under warrantee. I hope your 2001 is still under warrantee too.

Yeah, if you need to clean something use Johnson's baby wash. (The yellow bottle). If you do a search there's some discussion around this.

Here's mine https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ight=baby+wash

I managed to convice the dealer that my steering wheel was defective and the Florida sun did it, so I was lucky and got a new steering wheel. I have since been careful to not do anything to the steering wheel, even touch the castano leather.

Funny you should mention warranty. I have 1000 miles left on my warranty.
