Funny (But true) story about my 04 KR !

Today I called in at our local Ford dealer to order the overhead bin package that fits on the roof rails of the ’04.

This was the dealer who couldn’t supply exactly the truck we wanted but more to the point couldn’t get a tonneau. (NOT their fault).

Anyway I thought it would be rubbing salt in the wound to park in too obvious a position where the sales guy who hadn’t got his sale might see us.

Anyway someone must have seen us and passed the message on because a couple of hours later when we were back home the salesman concerned called my wife on the phone (I was trying to fix the electrics on our boat lift) and said…..

“How the hell did you get an 04 King Ranch?!”

My wife played the game saying…”Ah…you don’t know John….always wants to be the first with everything”

Obviously someone had seen the truck from a distance and noticed the badges….if they had come closer the truth would have been quite apparent !!!

(Sticks tongue out at Rockpick !!)

I can't help it that the guy that you almost bought a truck from is an idiot. LOL! And, even worse, this guy is in TEXAS for crying out loud!!! I'd be ashamed to call myself a salesman if I were him.

LOL! Good story though. I think you need to have a RUNNING W and a huge King rancH emblem painted on the roof of your truck so that we can better identify you from arial positions... yup, that's right Lenny. We're watching you.

LOL!

I don't know whether the salesman I was dealing with saw the truck himself or if it was reported to him by someone else.

I can't really blame the poor chap...as I said I felt a little guilty even taking the truck there.

In fact it rather reflects the way sales staff are in fact kept in the dark about new models.

I know this from when I ordered what was to have been the Jaguar "F" Type from a dealer in the UK. (the model was eventually cancelled in favor of development of the Jag "X" Type diesel....humph !).

I knew far more about the car for 2 years before the dealers.

I once questioned a dealer principal about this and he explained it was the usual policy with car companies NOT to tell sales staff about up coming models.
In that way they would continue to promote and sell current models rather than perhaps putting off prospective purchasers by letting them think something better was around the corner.

I suppose that could be the case but, it's not as if the King Ranch Edition Fords don't already exist... just not in the current model year. *shrugs*

Oh well...

That was a ballsy move to take your new truck in there and flash it to the salesman that missed his commission because he couldn't find what you wanted. Again, oh well... his loss.

Sweet truck Len. I wish I was in your shoes... well, on second thought, maybe not. I'll wear my shoes and just take your truck... that okay? I hope so because I'm heading down there in a few short hours to claim it.

I forgot to mention that I put a few items from the KR on EBay....

I had mentioned them in a previous post but no reply apart from mud flaps which proved inconvenient to remove without possible marking of flaps/vehicle.

They are dashmat, billet grill, and headlight protectors.
